As a begining note, I know this post will be long, but I will try to keep it organized, and not ramble, thank you for your patience.
The first topic:
End of Ages - N-Pulse merge
Well, this is going to be the biggest topic of my post, and the one which most people might want to read about. End of Ages, and N-Pulse WERE going to merge... till thismorning. Yes, I know I lied when I said it wasn't going to happen... that was to keep it a suprise... I wanted us to be able to upload it, and supprise everyone with all sorts of cool new stuff. Ducati and I had agreed to this several weeks ago, and had been working together over this time to figure out how the class system would work, and all sorts of other details. We had been discussing a merge since almost the start of this year, so we had worked out a lot of the details beforehand, and by no means rushed into this. (not after several months of negotiations.)
So did I say it was canceled? oh yes, I did, and I will try to explain the details as objectivly as I can. Thismorning Ducati (manager of n-pulse at the time) announced that she was quitting staff, and graal mostly, and was leaving Juli (former Co-Manager) incharge. I asked her what would happen of the merge, since all talks about it had been between her and myself. Ducati told me that everything that happened now would be up to Juli. So I talked to Juli, and she said the merge was off. We discussed things, but there was nothing even close to a possibility that she was going to allow the merge to happen. I then asked Ducati if my server could use her Private server Zhalla for development, since our hosting time is running out in about a week. She said she had no control over that, and it was up to Juli (even though Ducati paid for it). See, I did not worry about finding some way to pay for End of Ages, because we were going to move all work to Zhalla, and let End of Ages expire...
That brings us to Topic 2:
The future of End of Ages
Well, as of now, I am totally unmotivated. I spent this whole past weekend working on merging our overworlds, and making the map.txt work, and planning... only to find all my work go to waste, because of the end of the merger. Motivation WAS at an all-time high this past weekend... things were getting done, and it actually looked like we could be ready by summer. Now things are low as can be. I have begun negotiations to merge EoA with Babylon. We would use our overworld (add some of the main babylon levels to it), and ofcourse keep all their wonderfull events
at this point the negotiated server name would be 'Ages of Babylon' mostly to denote the change. As of who will be manager and stuff, don't worry, I doubt I will even ask to be a manager, so there will be no power struggle or anything... I just want all our hard work to be put to use somewhere, and not die.
Keep in mind that this merger with babylon is only
possible since we have not agreed on anything, and there is a very good chance it won't happen. In the case that the merge does not happen, EoA will be officially dead, and I will not allow any server, or anyone to use it's work, tileset, or levels. If this happens, I am sorry... and I really hope it works out with Babylon. This is not a plea for attention, I am not asking for people to tryout for staff... either this merge works, or EoA is dead, bottom line.
Topic 3:
Future of N-Pulse
Well, the future is unclear, and I will try not to speak much on this topic, since it will probably be seen as untastefull. But I will speak my opinion anyways, and you can take it or leave it, again, no-one's forcing you to read this.
If you view the map I have attached, you can see what the merged overworld would have looked like... A very beautifull thing I think. Now, if you take off the top (the area which is un-detailed) that is ALL the work they have done with their new overworld... the whole bottom (almost finnished) section is End of Ages. the fact is that N-Pulse only has like 2 or 3 LAT's.... Ducati is gone now, and Juli is manager. Not trying to insult her in any way, but she is not a developer, and so I'm not all too confident on her abilities to lead in the development of a *basically* new server. As far as scripters go, they have Past Austin, Sage, and nerv I think... Sage has great ideas, and ability... but lacks the attention span to finnish scripts, as well as the motivation to start them usually (not trying to insult him, we're friends), Past Austin has been away from graal so long, he has to re-learn scripting almost... and Nerv hasn't logged in, in over a month as far as I know.
All this isn't making N-Pulse's future look all too bright. We may have been able to finnish before summer, with the combined staff working on it, but now I doubt they'd be able to finnish by the end of the summer. I thought n-pulse deserved to stay public, since the new update was coming soon... (in about 2 months we had planned), but now it'll be at least 5 months, even if they get extra help... so I don't see why they shouldn't be sent into the hosted tab. Anyways, that is all I will say on that subject.
Now to my final topic, and hardest to write about,
Topic 4:
My reputation
It seems that some people have suggested that the only reason why I tried to merge with n-pulse, was to try to take it over, because I am powerhungry, and only want things done my way. Also, people have suggested that I have some master plan to gain more power in the graal community. All of these things are false, but it's hard to convince these people otherwise, since they already see me as a lier. Well, the people who know me best know I am not power hungry, and know I am not in this for control. I started End of Ages, because I had an idea which I wanted to see on graal, as I think is the same for a lot of server founders. I do not wish N-Pulse dead, I only wanted to help. Ducati worked with me near the begining of EoA, and I knew we had similar ideas on how our servers should turn out... I desided to help both of us by asking for a merge. Both sides needed more staff to finnish what they wanted done, and with the combined staff we could have been done by summer. Anyways, I brought up the merger 2 times... we discussed, and it was turned down both times. About a month went by, (this was right after I made that thread about EoA dieing), and I brought up the merger to Ducati again, and we discussed, and we agreed... but then I got all those posts from people willing to help End of Ages with scripting, and I made a very bad choice, and withdrew from the merger right before we would have made it official. then a few weeks ago Ducati and myself were talking, and through conversation we got to the topic of the merge again, and then we found ourselves both wanting it, but somehow unable to agree... so we talked like all day, and finally agreed that it was the best thing for both servers.
Before anyone disagrees with that statment, think again, because not many people actually know the full details of what was planned, and so unless you knew what the new n-pulse was going to be like, try not to insult it, k?
Anyways, I find myself going off track... so I'll end the post now. If you read this whole thing, thank you very much... and if not, then that was your choice... but please try not to just flame me for what I said, ok? If you disagree, then that's your opinion, and you can state that opinion, but I don't want to get into an argument over details, or something like that
