Babylon Re-make!

Hi. I'm here to talk about the new Babylon overworld we are currently working on. Everyone has been saying that Babylon is dying and not worth playing, so Outlaw (Co-Manager) and I decided to spruce some things up a bit and work on a new Babylon. It's pretty simple. It's only like a five person team so far, though it's the past Babylon, the old levels with some new touches by Cortez and Wan , plus we're adding more quests, jobs, and all that good stuff to it. We hopefully will have this done sometime in the start of August? Anyways, I just wanted to say that to let you all know what the hell is going on with Bab. Hope you come visit when it's done .

It will be the old Babylon levels, with some new and current NPCs. Though it will have a few level updates by Wan and Cortez.

Personally I stopped playing Babylon because of most of the staff. I'm not gonna go on about most of them and start conflict.

For the staff, half of them are being fired since they are all corrupt. Most of them anyhow. So far we're looking good. We got everyone work on the most part of it. It's not focused around Central (the town) anymore. It's more spread out. There will be more jobs to do and money will be a value. Events are looking great with good prizes. A few old staff coming back and doing good things (won't tell who). There is a weather and seasonal system with tilesets added (no lag). Doubt we're going to have a time system, as in day and night, since it kinda sucks to have one. I'll annouce more when it's done, we have plans alright . Come and visit when it's done k?

Edit: To clear up any questions, when I mean old Bab levels, I mean the old Zen management levels that are improved and some added.

Looking good Wan. I always liked the OW that Babylon had when it first came out.

back when LordHelmut was making it he had some original ideas. I believe he spoke of some different types of jobs such as clock making or something. Also he had something similar to bomies...but that isn't original since it was already done.

Shoes-making was pretty original when Lord Helmut used to manage babylon, it wasn't like a boring job and you could get some gralats to make you happier.

LordHelmut and myself used to talk about such ideas extensively. Him, myself, and Xaviar pretty much did that whole server.

Kuros (the bomy-like project we had) was original for its time because Graal was still free, and playerworlds were not allowed to have a npc-server. And thus, no playerworlds had bomies. Our kuros were non-p2p bomies. It actually was very impressive for its time, and part of the reason why the PWA (A far cry from what it is today) went ahead and passed us when so few playerworlds were around.

I have alot of old babylon gfx that never were used. For example, there is a set of gfx that was supposed to be used for our Kingdom War system. I can try to go into detail sometime of how that was supposed to work if you guys would like to revive that project. It'd be a very fun mini-game, at the very least. Also I had made 3 staffs which were to be npcw prizes at the end of 3 quests. Only one staff was ever implemented and scripted to work, and the quest for it was never even completed, I think it was just given out to everybody to play with and enjoy eventually.

I have gfx for gold panning, an idea which was unique for its time when everybody else was only doing mining. Also I had gfx for another minigame where 2 opponents balance on a balance beam sparring with long quarterstaffs I think they are called. I have lost the staff gfx, but I still have the balance beam and the gfx for the button system. (It was going to be turn based)

Anyways, yea, its nice to hear that Babylon might be getting back on track. I would like to see some sort of rpg system implemented if possible, and also bring back dear hunting. Oh and, the overworld never looked very nice at that stage, I never liked how straight the coast was. It would be cool if the entire overworld was filled out and there was some sort of large continent with water on all sides, and the Evil realm to the East should be made, too.

I hope babylon will re-write its self as a popular server, like it use to be, but The only reason I seem to trash it is because of the no changed in 9 months. Babylon Is my favorite server tho. :P I also dont like the staff. Im treated Like crap XD. GL Mal, Alex, and all the other bab revolution staff.

I played babylon since day 1, It's funny how a lot of newbies from last year came and all the sudden, this year, they have 1000 hours and people worship them as oldbies. I wanna smack them silly.

OasaTor, this isnt a staff revolution or anything. They're basically taking babylon's OW before it went all "crooked" and editing it o_O;

No he didn't. Xaviar did.

Alex edited them to make a npc-server version.

Edit: If that makes sense O_o...I don't know how to say it, lol.
