Hehe, sounds like it will be fun. The prizes also sound pretty cool. :o

I hope it goes well. :)

EDIT:

Oh yeah, unixmad. I have a question. If you win an event but have no desire to create a server, can you "donate" the $40 to another server?

Unix add a more visable link to the forums on graal.net if you could, as its hard to find from homepage.

And yes sounds good so far. Endurance will be funny, everyone call your mates around and press 'D' for about 200hours just to take the mickey

Button-smashing isn't a good idea for an event. ;; I have an autofire joypad, and I could just set a chair on the button and go to sleep or something. ;x Trust me. I did that for Sanstrata fishing. ;D

Some auto fire controllers dont need you to press it, you like press the button once and it continues until its pressed again

It isnt lame to alot of people, alot will enjoy it, it sounds like alot of fun, and the prizes are decent....you are entitled to your opinion, just dont join or be involved, but do you need to be so negative? I dont recall Graal doing an olympic thing before, just serverwide spar stuff, of course I could be wrong

Awesome, it's good to see a living-up of Graal events, and it's just a month away! I'm sure they'll be problems though, I hope on the Graalympus server there's a spot for onlookers to sit. T3CK is making the Graalympic tests for Babylon, and I plan to win the endurance test! Wish me luck.

Well, now that you mention that, I realize that it's going to be quite boring to watch, heh. Watching us mash buttons? Watching us answer question? Doesn't sound too...fun. The spars might be ok, though.

Don't worry, I took that into account. The buttonmashing event, you don't wanna autofire: It's sumo wrestling. If you buttonmash - lunge at your opponent, all he has to do is step out of your way. It's even worse if you've got a rapidfire controller.
For the endurance event - you have 5 seconds to press A. Then 5 seconds to press S. Then 5 seconds to press D. Then 5 seconds to press S again. Then D again. Then back to A. Unless you have a super-clever autofire'r, you're gonna lose fast. Hitting S fifteen times in 5 seconds would be bad. Hitting A, S and D every 5 seconds would not be an improvement.

Ah good thinking, although to make it even more to stop those cheaters, AND to make it more of a challange, it should pick random keys on the keyboard (A-Z) and you have to press it!

I have a personal philosophy that I love to live by (I actually live by a few personal philosophies, but this one is among the top ten)...

-Never stop looking. Even if you don't find what your looking for in your lifetime, you're leading someone else one step closer to finding the same thing you're looking for

An interesting philosophy which frequently proves itself quite true in science and mathematics.

I happen to follow, among others, some of the philosophies contained in Edgar Guest's poem, "It Couldn't be Done."

"Somebody said that it couldn't be done,
But he with a chuckle replied
That "maybe it couldn't," but he would be one
Who wouldn't say so till he tried.

So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn't be done, and he did it.

Somebody scoffed: "Oh, you'll never do that;
At least no one ever has done it";
But he took off his coat and he took off his hat,
And the first thing we knew he'd begun it.

With a lift of his chin and a bit of a grin,
Without any doubting or quiddit,
He started to sing as he tackled that thing
That couldn't be done, and he did it.

There are thousands to tell you it cannot be done,
There are thousands to prophesy failure;
There are thousands to point out to you, one by one,
The dangers that wait to assail you.

But just buckle in with a bit of a grin,
Just take off your coat and go do it;
Just start to sing as you tackle the thing
That "cannot be done," and you'll do it."

Only if you keep accurate records and/or have a successor.

And I believe the search for intelligence is like the search for inner peace, there's no earthly way you can have someone find it by using the same guidelines as you.

In short - that philosophy doesn't suit the topic.

Nah. That's hardly fair for people who don't have english keyboards. A, S and D can be mapped however you like. If on your keyboard it's ÿ, È and Æ, you're not penalized.

As for news - So far the only confirmed participating servers are G2K0, Kingdoms, Adventure, Doomsday and Atlantis. If your server isn't on this tragically short list, bludgeon your server's manager until they contact me! They're missing out on a chance at $40 off per event! They could run their server free for 2 years if they make a clean sweep of it!

G2K1/Bomy Moon can't participate if they're not open, obviously.

Servers still under construction can't play either, by virtue of they don't have 5 players to send.

You can't keep the $40 off for yourself or for your dream project, because you're there as a representative of your "country". You're the best Era has to offer (for example), you're there to bring your homeland glory, not to start your own country.

And if you don't like it, the proverbial door is on your left. I can hold this event quite comfortably accepting only those selfless olympians who are in it for the challenge, for the glory, and for the honor of being named Graal's Best.

Tyhm has a spectacular aura about
.......

Okay, how the hell are people reading from this that they have to make NEW ganis?!?!??!??!??!?
All I ask is if you're using new ganis, you send them to me so I can set them up on this world. So far I've only found 3 kinds of ganis: Classic, G2K1, and Kingdoms style. Once James sends me his, I'll be completely set.

The level sending is optional - if you send me the levels for a cave from your world to Graalympus Island, I'll add it and players coming from your server will have a nifty segway and explanation. If you don't, I cram your server in with every other server that just kinda "warpring'ed in".

All you have to do is contact me and run 5 events in 5 days. Simple. Then for every event your server's team wins, you get $40 off your next bill. I don't see what's so complicated about it; but then, I'm also organizing, so it goes to figure.

No need to get hysterical, sheesh....sorry for getting confused on something.
I cant find the original thread so I can see how I may have come up with that.
And what about this paragraph, is this a typo?

Email me at [email protected] by Monday, July 28 if you intend to participate. Email me again by the following Saturday with your representatives' accounts, and have them log onto the server to set up their appearances.

Doesnt it start on the 28th of July?

lol, lots of editing.....ok, I found the original thread, and I misread it, my opologies...it said you needed a scripter from each PW to contact you (which we have none) and is said we "could" have our own gani set.

Yeah, scripter or levelmaker if you want anything above and beyond the defaults. ^_^
