I'm finished with PWA

Hi

Yes, I'm done with being a PW Inspector, PW Reviewer, or dealing with any other complaints or concerns you have with the PW Administration. My reason for leaving, however, may just be different than others.

I think that I have outgrown my function as a "global staff member" in Graal. I simply don't have the time for it anymore. I work (as many of you may know when I reviewed nothing during the Christmas season), I have school (preparing to go to university), a social life (one of those "omg get a life don't play graal" things

) and also I'm branching out to play other games during my online time. This is not to say I do not enjoy Graal anymore, I simply don't have the time to manage these things in the time that I allow myself so something had to be sacrificed.

Nemesis was an awesome boss, he did everything he promised he would, he sorted out all the problems I had. Torankusu, I wish you were a bit more active, but at least you listened. Angel, you're really commited to this thing, I'm glad you are, you'll do an excellent job, but make sure you're consistent in your motivation... you'll lose a lot of it along the road. If you guys need help for, say. the next week or two, asking me questions about how to write a review or judge something, I will help, but no reviewing or inspecting for me.

To the rest of you, those that I talked with and dealt with as a PW person. I will tell you this now before you find out the hard way. Some of you, it was much easier to communicate with you, simply because you understood that I was busy and we could communicate about other things than just Graal and PW crap. For some of you, congratulations, you made my life a living hell, made me totallly loathe the fact that I had to get on my damned AIM to deal with your pointless and stupid questions. That's why you sometimes didn't see me on for days, weeks at a time. HI, I'M A HUMAN TOO, I CAN'T ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS EVERY SINGLE DAY ABOUT "omg pliz lookit mah level and tell me wut u thikn" and "wut do u like in a playerwurld so u will pass it betterer" or "liek hi did u review my playerwurld yet, it's been 9 min since we last talked lol" x7 (every staff member from their server does that) I also hate it when people IM me saying "hey" and I reply by saying "hello" assuming they have something to say, but instead they just go "lol". Look, buddy, if you want to tell me something, tell me, I don't have all day.

But, please keep in mind, these people were maybe the 30 percentile, the rest of you, I had no problem reviewing your work, talking with you casually as best as I could, or anything else. For the most part, you're all decent human beings.

I guess I will tell Nolavario what they need to change, then review Exodia, then I hope that my duties as a PW member will be complete. I've honestly had it with it all.

PS- Don't ask me about hiring PW Inspectors. It's assumed that there will be a hiring of another one because I've left, but I don't know

Anyways, here is a picture of the daily grief I have to sometimes go through. This is not to evoke sympathy for myself, but to show you that sometimes I couldn't instantly message you back because you wanted me to, or wondered why I didn't reply.

You guys always asked for more authority and power so you could do your job, and Stefan has given it to you. I don't care what you say...I just witnessed it. Argh...and because of it I might be out of luck...

Hmm well good luck to you. You seemed like you did your job, and well. By the way, if I was you I would have put everyone on ignore, and only accepted forum PMs. Then, if it is a trusted PW owner, put him on your list of people who can speak to you...

If someone truely put effort and time into a PW, they WILL find a way to contact you using the forums...that is why that is fair. If someone looks for the easy way, just IMing you, and giving you idiotic crap, then they clearly would not have bothered to contact you using forum PMs...

Hehe, well thats what I would do anyway...

Im glad I wasn't on your AIM list at the time when you took that screenshot, although Im sure I did annoy you at the start, although I sort of senced that you didn't like talking about it, which is why I often talked about other things. Anyway shame to see you go like this its a shame. Also Jaffer, what did Urizen do that make you like him more than Aftershock? If you ask me Aftershock is one of the best PW Reviewers since I have joined graal.

And I agree, Angel is doing well and dont worry from what ive seen/heard she seems like she is going to stay active and consistant!

Aftershock was the best reviewer. He was the first person to really describe the PW. The others were like a paragraph long.

And about those annoying people, I get the same thing. "thanks for helping me with my account

" everytime I get on. I like a thanks and all, but I don't need to be constantly told thanks.

Well this really sucks for the PWA, you seemed to the only one holding it together.

Your reviews far surpassed any others, you painted a vivid picture for readers so they knew what the PW would be like, and what it needed. I only wish the current PWA or the next one they hire (if they do) can provide us with this.

It's not about power. I didn't really have that much of a problem contacting Stefan when I needed to through the debug forum, and Angel has a much easier time doing so, so obviously that wasn't an issue. I simply don't have the time for it anymore and I've outgrown the job.

And Arcadius, you didn't make my life a living hell

As for putting my IM on private mode so people could reach me only in forum PM, I can't operate like that. It makes things much slower and really frustrates people. There were many times when I went on private buddy list mode for AIM just to talk to friends, but still, I can't hide forever.

I actualyl expected to see more, because like Koni did a s/s and he had like 50. And I often ahve about 12 open. But still if theya re all talking to you alot, even two is too many.

This is really sad to see quality people like Aftershock have to cave in because of the structure of the way Graal is set up. I don't blame him or Graal for that matter, just the need to restructure the way things are done so things like this do not keep occurring and it will if changes are not made. Everyone here needs to realize Graal does not support 99% of the Staff and they have lives outside of Graal and need to respect that fact. Every waking moment they have is NOT devoted to Graal but to themselves. Out of a love for the Game and desire to help others they have achieved the goal of Admin and yet it becomes a living hell to those who wish only to improve Graal and help its players. PWA is understaffed and overworked with all that is expected of them to do without regard of their personal lives. A major overhaul of the way the Admin structure and how things are handled on the Game needs to be addressed. Rules already setup are not followed and yet there is little or no repercussions for it. People get burnt out by the stress of trying to do all they can and going beyond their limits of what should be normal but in reality is not at all. I will be the first to admit it will be very difficult to change this why? Because the Game is run overseas and Unixmad and Stefan really don't know the people they have to put in change. This leads to problems for them and the Game, just whom do they really trust to do what their aims are for Graal? What someone appears to be on the Game in reality may not be at all. It is a catch 22 for Graal and I know this. For those who don't know what catch 22 is, basically damned if you do and damned if you don't a no win scenario. So Graal just tries to push through it all and it loses good people like Aftershock in the process. Can it be changed? Sure it can but the reality of it all may just make the Admin wannabes mad, its a business and needs to be run by business minded adults who are paid and are supported by Graal. This will solve a lot of the issues and problems we now experience and yet Graal is a small company and cannot afford a move like this so the never ending cycle continues, this is indeed sad but the reality of it.

The problem is, even with DND and if someone says this is not for chat but urget things, every person will think they can IM that person and be the only one and they wont mind, but really, everyone is IM that person so it doesn't work.

I have a lot of things going on in life, and I don't really tune in to graal much more. I've lost an interest and motivation basically for the majority of graal --- mostly due to the way things here are ran.

I asked him about that a few weeks ago, he said no. I don't want to start speaking on his behalf, but I think he pretty much quit because he had enough of it too, but I'm not 100% on it

I vote on a new system...one where the players rate the PW.

What I mean is, maybe like this:

PWA Reviews it. It passes, so it goes online (possible a PW for reviewing PWs heh). Players can then go on and rate the PW, maybe before they log off, it says "What do you rate this world?", and then players can rate it and give comments. If they don't give a good comment, it is disregarded....then, after say 2 days, the PWA reviews the reviews players have given, and if it meets a certain requirement, or the PWA feels the players like it (or maybe, he makes a thread containing all the comments and ratings, then the players on the forums vote if it should go up or not), anyway after that, Stefan decides to put it up or not, and it is done.
