But that's perfect. And, more often than not, the only reason they'd do that is if they already don't like you. If they don't like you, there must be a reason, which falls back on the "you deserved it anyway".

You shouldn't let some petty thing like people on the internet get to you. Who cares if they suddenly decide you're unlikeable because you like a certain band, I wouldn't like you either if you cared.

I think it should be one or the other -- complete anonymity (no messages either), or automatic signing.

As it stands, people sign all of their +rep because they want it in return, and then don't sign their negative rep because they don't want it in return. Understandable, but if people used negative rep to show when they dislike a post instead of when they dislike an individual, then it wouldn't really be a problem. Nobody is going to go out of their way to get you back for negative repping them if you have a valid reason for doing it (unless they're a total *****, in which case you shouldn't care about it anyways).

I've negative rep'd friends, and I've given positive rep to people I can't ****ing stand, because I'm repping the post, not the person.

Also, chances are the people who have high rep have had a lot of neg rep as well. I know I have gotten tons for stupid reason... but chances are you're also getting way more pos rep if you really deserve it. Also, neg rep from jerks tends to be either worth nothing, or -1 point... it's really not that big of a deal. Only time you should be worried is if you're pissing off high rep users or the mods, and I don't think most high rep users throw around neg rep for the fun of it.

I don't agree with the way you and SN would check who actually gives rep (especially posting it publicly), but signing someone else's name is low.

It doesn't bother me. I don't think i even have any neg rep aside from one individual who neg reped me for asking a question. Then three people pos reped me to undo it.

Rep is joke, and furthermore, if you honestly think people on graal have to have a reason to give bad rep, that is also a joke. I see threads all the time of people arguing over dumb things and im sure people pass neg rep around as like a "HAH I GOT YOU" type of thing. Or a better example is when everyone was making threads and posts about the UN vs era battle thing. I wouldn't be surprised if Squirt, Chris, or Speedy got neg reped.

And i think it's hypocritical to say someone cares to much when they want names shown than those who don't want names shown because they care to much that they will get mean pm's because they neg or pos reped someone.

P.S. Heres another example: i got neg reped for my post, and i'd like to think someone doesn't hate me over a simple post. I knew someone would want to do it, but im glad someone proved my point?

Your post got neg rep because someone didn't like that post. Make good posts, get good rep. Post something someone dislikes, get neg'd. That's how it works. It's meant to represent how well you post/appear to be. If you're a chump and post like one, you get unliked and negative rep'd until you're in the red.

Likewise, if you're a cool guy, and by extension, have good posts, you end up with tons of little green bars that you can redeem for KFC.

In other words your simply saying if someone has a difference of opinion you should be neg reped? I disagree with your opinion. Will i neg rep you? No. Now if you were trolling/spaming then i would. Maybe we have a difference in opinion of what rep should be representing. You make it sound like it should simply show if someone likes the post or not. If someone posts enough bad to have negative reputation; posts enough crap people just disagree with or don't like, I'd consider them useless, wouldn't you? Your reputation is just that. Your reputation. You don't get a bad reputation just for spamming. You can make legitimate posts and still be a loser. And if you fall victim to what you're calling "abuse" of reputation, you must've done something to deserve it.

Don't waste time reading posts, +rep as much as you can...get your name out there. The more rep you give, the more you're going to get in return.

I hate unsigned rep as well. I like seeing who gives me pos rep (so I can give it back) and neg rep (just from curiosity). Like some douche neg repped me with "649?" referring to my at the time 651 but it's funny that Dusty pos repped me and got me up to 662. xD

Considering how people like to sign someone elses name, whether it be for fun or not wanting the rep returned, and considering people are getting either positive rep or negative rep just for doing it to someone else, I think it would be better if no one knows, except the admins, who gives the rep, that way people will rep the actual posts more, and not return the favor, or abuse it by leaving someone elses name.
