the worst hurricane I've been through was probably hurricane floyd. It was back around 1999 - 2000. I live in new york (hour outside of NYC) so it's not often we get powerful hurricanes. usually it's just the scraps after it has hit the whole east coast.

You also get some of the worse and most violent ghettos in the USA.

And earthquakes of course.

I don't watch the news, but if so, it didn't affect where I live.

Sorry to hear that. Must have been really tough for you.
I remember growing up, running to the basement every time the sirens went off for tornadoes. Very scary.

That's a thing I don't understand: why not? Isn't it worth the government to save the citizens lives? And isn't it too expensive to built a cellar to save you and your familiies life?
I'd prefer to live in a smaller house with cellar, instead of being unsafe in a bigger one.

I know, they were discussing the siren issue on the news. I dont know why.

I think they concentrate more, when building houses, on making them hurricane safe, rather than tornado safe.

Florida has no government. Florida has no money. Florida hardly has borders. Florida "government" can't do anything, Florida's "government" can't afford to do anything, and most of Florida's citizens can't afford to get out.
