It might be a good idea to back off on this particular claim. I was on and there is actually work being done. We even fixed a few bugs. Is the work that's been done considerable in light of the amount of time it has taken? No. But there is work being done. I don't know why Lance doesn't release screenshots. He even told me that I wasn't allowed to take screenshots and release them. It's even possible he's just trying to get people he doesn't like to claim that no work is being done so he can release the server and be like "roffelwafflepwnedomg" or something like that.

I really hope that he tries to pull something like that and claim victory over his critics. It would probably be the most hilarious stubborness ever exhibited by anyone alive.

It would be victory over anyone claiming he does no work. Saying Lance does little/slow work, well, okay. But saying Lance does no work is a provably false statement.

Fine, I'll slightly modify my previous statements by saying that Lance does a fairly insignificant amount of work toward the release of Graal2001.

I didn't read the entire thread because I'm short on time. But:

There's still some important that work I have to finish levels wise before "Lance's" Graal2001 release... But I still don't have a computer to use. My teacher informed us a few days ago that soon the dean will be contacting the head of Apple Canada about our iBooks that should've been here weeks ago... Hopefully that will get better results than the teacher contacting the city's representitive... *shrug* I guess the bright side is that there's a marginally better chance that V4-Mac will be ready for use by the time I get the iBook. :P

Honestly though, to ignite an old flame once more, it's still confusing as to why we can't just all work together.

Anyway, on a side note... Once I get up and running, I'll be able to work on those levels again (My babies!)... While also being able to (hopefully) pump out some kick-ass sound effects, and perhaps even music. My class room houses a pretty awesome recording studio... I just have to learn how to use it all. ;D

We all can't work together because I'd still be doing 90% of the work.

Not to mention we have different ideas about what the server should focus on and be about.

Not to mention who would take the role as manager? I don't feel Lance is capable of managing properly, and he probably shares the same views towards me.

If you boneheads would actually take time to grow a brain stem lance said he was "working twoards so and so date" that does not imply he will have the game open by then, it's just an estimate, just like what your local mechanic gives you, an estimate.

I've learned to not wait for something, if it doesn't come out oh well, if it does then wow what a bonus for me.

I think that calling people boneheads while exhibiting complete ignorance to this situation is pretty ridiculous.

Well, that's you. We have expectations. When someone takes responsibility for something and then doesn't show any, and then refuses to let it go, it upsets people.

Kamuii. Kamuii had suggested before that he would be interested, but when he brought it up to Lance, Lance said no. Not that it matters now, since Koni is already going to win.

1) Lance can script. So? He hardly does any work. Kamuii could probably attract a scripter that does more work than that.
2) Kamuii is a forum mod now. He has probably grown up from before.
3) If you want to talk about pasts, Lance has been pretty edgy with GraalOnline. Remember when he was removed from moderatorship and possibly banned from the forums? (His gold was removed I think)

Who? This isn't like three years ago. There aren't very many elite scripters floating around out there. Keep in mind, also, that the core of Kamuii's scripting team was Lance, CheeToS and Jeff. Lance and CheeToS are still staff there, and Jeff can't be because he quit.

The 59K thing is just a running joke thing I do.

I doubt either of the two servers, if both make it out, will fail to stay up. At least in the short term. I think Lance's server has a better chance to get a higher playercount because Koni's server will be hampered by his anti-player ideology. To tell the truth, however, I doubt that either server, in the long term, will be able to maintain a playerbase higher than even that of Maloria's.

Most players won't know the difference between NPC kings and player kings.

From what moderatorship? Dude, the only thing remotely similar to this was the time I took a few months off of Graal and had my adminlevel appropriately set to zero in the interim. I have actually never been banned from the forums or game (except, of course, the one time CheeToS banned me for taking part in the oompa loompa conspiracy, but that is another story). The only person who has had their gold time removed was Loriel.

Let's not forget I was forum banned AND global banned at one point in time.

I can't say I agree with Googi, it's more like he's saying my server will fail because it's not what he wants. You don't speak for the majority of the players. In fact, this whole forum doesn't speak for the majority of the players because a lot of 2k1's players didn't use the forum and still don't.

Let's name the scripters of Graal in the past couple of months.
We have Skyld, Rance (Velox), Stefan, Fry(I assume he can script), Ajira, Growlz, Calani, Silent, Malinko, Maniaman, Cheetos, Jagen and Lance.
They all know GS2 to my knowledge.
But, I'm missing something, I havn't classed all the people who work on hosted servers!
I'm sure, if you looked around more, you'll be able to find a decent scripter if you're looking. There is a bunch up there who will probably help you.

Were you a real PWA? Playerworlds with 2K1 style kingdoms or some attempt at them are commonplace now.

I admit readily that what I want is different from what most players want. That, said I think both servers will fail. The only way a 2K1 server could be successful would be to abandon the basis of the original 2K1 to the point that it is 2K1 in name (an possibly map) only. The server which will prove successful, if either of them does, will be the one that betrayed the basis of the original 2K1 the most. Players don't want an economy based around aesthetic items anymore. They want an economy based around items that will give them an unfair advantage over other players.

I said that there aren't many elite scripters floating around. Floating around meaning "not already working at a server".

Then I think you will be pleasantly surprised. My revision isn't a simple change in graphics and slight little tweaking to things. I'm doing a full overhaul of damn near everything. Every job is going to be different, there will be lots of quests, all the events will be updated and changed. New pets, new inventory, new jobs, totally new areas... I think there is still a strong desire to have a 2k1 server that is well done and well managed. If people want GK-style items so much, why doesn't GK have more players? All the servers on the classic list right now in my opinion, are badly put together.

Not to mention without those stat changing items, sparring will be more based around skill and not items. I think a lot of people prefer it that way. Graal became a hit because of classic, not because of GK.

You can say that classic is outdated and wouldn't stand a chance against new servers... but the basic principles can, and will.

Let it go...leave it alone. This is no place for bringing up the past which has nothing to do with Graal 2001, and there is no reason for it...

If this is the case, it shadows doubt over VT's claim your server will be the first out.

2K2 is usually far ahead of the far more egalitarian Zone in terms of playercount.

He isn't involved in the development so it's just his opinion. I didn't tell him it would be out first.

You can't really compare Zone to GK. They are totally different. Some people just don't like Zone because of the guns and futuristic stuff. (myself included)

My claim is based on how much Koni has shown us, versus how much Lance has. Additionally, it is rooted in how long Koni has been working on his version as opposed to Lance.
