"Please subscribe to see more great heads!"

Trials are being restricted to heads 1 - 10, now and being told to subscribe to use more heads ;o?

Don't most managers ask their customers for advice before doing things like this?

Of course not, because most managers make their own content.

I'm kind of glad this was done, because it does give a small incentive to upgrade. Customization is one thing people love so it might really encourage people to subscribe, but we have just under 1300 heads so the limit of 1-10 should probably be increased to 1-100. You don't really get many good heads in the first 10 (especially if you're a female) so the restrictions may be too small to act as a little push and go the other way.

There are a lot of global heads that don't work, or have been removed in the global head list. Perhaps as an added bonus to Gold players the uploading of global heads could be brought back to fill in those spots, instead of having to get your head uploaded everywhere. The old heads could probably do with a reviewing too to promote some kind of professional feel, but I'm going off topic here.

Hmm, isn't this restriction only on servers who use the default system (sethead <blahblah>)?

I would say it was a good idea, if there weren't already tons of restrictions.
There's observer, which is a pain in the ass. Then there's the restricted screen size(which is dumb). There's no forum use, either. I'm sure I'm forgetting other restrictions, as well. I dunno, I just don't think it's a good idea to keep on stacking restrictions... I don't think it's really going to push people to upgrade, but do the opposite.

I don't think it matters. It prob detects what head the trial is wearing and resets it. I tried using Zodiac's tailor for changing heads and it failed.

Incentives to upgrade are pretty weak compared to when trials couldn't save.

They are, but at the same time they're really annoying. Most people approach a trial time knowing there will be something major, like after 10 days not working, or not being able to save their work. Not being able to save seemed logical, yet not really annoying as it wasn't always IN YOUR FACE. All these minor limitations just seem to bug the hell out of everyone. Bugging does not make people want to upgrade, it tends to do the complete opposite.

I disagree from experience.
I have upgraded something several times because of something annoying, to get rid of it, and I know many other people who have as well. It works.

But wouldn't you be more willing to upgrade because you like it(oh wait... lol, THAT'S what this is about) rather than being annoyed?

I think I see the problem here, they can no longer appeal to players enough to get them to upgrade, so they're going to annoy the hell out of them until they do.

Exactly, they can't just sit there and expect US to do all the development work. This isn't a developing platform and we're sure as hell not employees. They need to stop "abusing" the amount of content we deliver and actually give people a REASON to upgrade through gameplay aka revamping servers or just making a new one. G3D was their excuse for not doing anything over the years but I think we all know the fate of it and how much attention is actually being spent on it today.

G2k1 pulled it off and G2k2 was getting along well for 2-3 years.

Maybe its a step towards telling trials to stop taking advantage. Rufus's idea of having heads 1-100 is a pretty excellent idea for the heads. Trials shouldn't get most of the benefits we get. Especially since we're paying all this money .

They shouldn't... which is why no saving was such a better trial mode. People who paid didn't get shafted by those who simply have the patience to deal with all the annoying limitations.

I think I have to side with Crono on this one. It's pretty disturbing when you realize that every single change that is being made by the administration is something negative that offers no benefit to players whatsoever.

Makes you want to leave just by principle, honestly. Yeah the game is fun to hang out with friends, but the pattern we've seen so far is spiraling down into a future of even more dismay and mistreatment. Cyberjoueurs treats its customers like absolute and total worthless ****, while also leeching off them to survive--offering NOTHING in return. What we get off Graal we make for ourselves, and we PAY for that? Lol, I call bull****.

A bit dismal, no? But sadly true.

I download trials because I want to try things out, and if I like it, I will buy/upgrade, but some people like to let people download the full program, and choose annoyances to get people to buy, or give a time limit in which time the program would stop working. Both work.

Both are preempted everywhere else, not added 10 years later due to lack of ideas to restrict things in the future. This kind of stuff should have been done a long time ago to be honest.

Programs that usually nag people generally aren't praised for it. Just because it works doesn't mean it's the best thing.

Like I said, I saw what the problem is and I guess nagging is the only way they can get people to upgrade anymore. It's only obvious: there's a screen resolution limit(rofl... one of the worse ones), observer mode which is a joke. Now the head limit. There's allowing forums for only gold members, then there's the wiki. It's obvious they're really having a hard time getting people to upgrade... but instead of trying the more logical thing -- making a better game, they resort to annoying the **** out of trials.

I can see though, since v5 came out... this nagging limitation stuff is totally working... the playercount definitely shows. Really.

They could just get rid of observer. That would make everything better and give the regular 5 hours a month.

No need for even that. No saving = more than enough time to try whatever they want out, and no need to worry about them gaining the same advantages as those who pay.

Then let trials experience the FULL game for a restricted amount of time, say a day or so, and then restrict their computer from accessing it again until they register. This should give them plenty of time to decide if they want to upgrade.

Personally, when I see the half-sized screen, limited heads, 4 hours, I wouldn't upgrade. There's no point if players can't experience the game fully before upgrading.

I saw this being developed on Zone Debug with Stefan, but I thought nothing of it. I should have known better.

Now, you've gone and messed up the subscription system making it more expensive and more confusing. When new people try to upgrade, the first thing they see are "gelats". The first thing they'll think is, "what the hell are gelats?". I only re-upgraded because Symphonia needed a new website, and that's it. If they were fine with it, I wouldn't even remotely consider it due to all of these confusions.

If you're thinking that you're going to make players re-upgrade, think again

Seriously, look at all these threads:
confused at new prices
New Subscriptions
Why euro?
Observer Mode.
New Trial System
Subscription Choices? Pffft
Failure
Why are we telling new players how many "gelats" they're saving/getting as a bonus? (notice, this hasn't been changed in 11 months)

And many more are lurking around the forums. Let's face it. Graal isn't really in a good phase of it's development right now. It's managers rarely answer 'critical' support tickets fast (I posted a ticket in February 5th, and I just got a response on June 5th, exactly 4 months.), and they don't let their own customers participate in global additions to Graal. They don't even let their customers know until it's already implemented, usually along with a few bugs.

And where the bloody hell is Unixmad? I've heard a lot about him, but I've NEVER seen him in-game or on the forums. For someone who is supposed to be the manager of Cyberjoueurs, he's not participating much. Stefan always consults him about what he should do, but Unixmad doesn't even actively participate in-game.

That's my rant. Sequel coming soon...

Seriously, look at all these threads:
confused at new prices
New Subscriptions
Why euro?
Observer Mode.
New Trial System
Subscription Choices? Pffft
Failure
Why are we telling new players how many "gelats" they're saving/getting as a bonus? (notice, this hasn't been changed in 11 months)
That's not that many threads considering you decided to go back almost an entire year.

Maybe our only hope to keep this game alive (for us, the players) is to start a democracy.
All server owners/managers/development staff band together for a strike!
NO MORE QUALITY WORK FROM US!
WE SHALL RULE THIS DAY IN THE COUNTRY OF FRANCE!
WE... ARE... G-RAA(H)-L!

On a serious manner, I think we actually need a server worth subscribing for and paying.
And some motivation from the globals/Stefen/Stephane? I mean seriously, we have a change to go to Classic, but for the past 4 years or whatever, that hasn't happened, and no quality work has been added to them.
All content makers reading this should be thinking the same thing I do, "Why don't all of us good-quality content makers make a server? That way we can keep Graal alive!"
I mean seriously, come on! There's nothing to lose, it's just the interweb! Yes, I say interweb because I'm completely freaking awesome like that.

Are you shy, squiggly line?
Why only when I ignore you, do you return to the center of my eye?
Oh, squiggly line, it's alright, you are forgiven.

Come on, it's really just the same thread re-made and re-deleted a dozen times.

Just how do you go about selecting threads on a specific topic "randomly"? I'd like to try it too.

I talked to Unixmad like 5 nights in a row on Graal recently

Most of the players don't even know how to change heads to begin with, they are used to having a create a character screen where they can choose all that stuff before they get in the game; So are already confused! Trial just needs a time played limit of 6-12 hours and or 15 days whichever comes first. Other games go by the level of the player but that would be hard considering servers don't all go by levels.
