Lag issues

So, I bought a new laptop last week, and I run most new games with 40-50 fps on high settings, but once I start Graal... yeah, you know the drill.

I have two kinds of lag on Graal. The first kind is complete lockups lasting well over a minute whenever I change server, it just gives me a blank screen. Using my old Graal folder (with over 55,000 files in it collected over the years), that lag didn't stop at all, and I was forced to close it down through the Task Manager.

In addition to that, I'm experiencing minor lag issues here and there, appears to be worse the more players/lights it's in a level. Particle effects appears to be fine though.

I'm running on a:
  • Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU P7350 @ 2.00GHz (1 physical processor, 2 logical)
  • Windows (TM) Vista Home Premium 64-bit
  • NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT, latest drivers, DirectX 9 & 10
  • 3.98 GB RAM memory, combined with 8.19 GB pagefile memory.

Yes, but I've tried running it with just one, no change.

I can only think of some problem with sounds or video driver. Do you have the same problem with the v6 beta client ?

You most certainly did not, you must have mixed me up with someone else.

Weird, my laptop has similar specs but the only problem I have is random stutters which I blame on 32bit Vista as opposed to 64bit (which my PC uses just fine). How's the performance on a clean install of Graal? Did you try disabling the Aero skin (compatibility => disable desktop composition)?

I still have this problem, it's so huge lag that whenever I download something new, the game freeze completely for a lot of time. And yes, it does seem to be caused by file downloads most of the time.

Apparently this lag is only happening when using D3D, works perfectly in OpenGL. Anyone has an idea on what can be causing that?
