A few techniques i need help with

Theres 2 techniques i want to learn how to do

1) Creating a relfeaction of an image, but making it semi transparent.

2) Create a shine, like if you was to create a car window id add white lines / so it seems to be a shine/reflection, how would i go about making this line semi transparent?

In Photoshop use transform (CTRL+T) to rotate the image, then use a layer mask to set the transparency you want (I assume you want a gradient transparency?).

Use white on another layer mask. Good luck

Photoshop is good-- if you know how to use it; It's alot better than Microsoft Paint.

You can pixel just as easily with Photoshop if you're comfortable with the interface. The difference is that in Photoshop, when you're done pixelling, you can drop in your favorite photo and do some serious manipulation... let's see you do that in paint

For all practical purposes, MS Paint is better for the average pixeller. If you're not doing photo manipulation than Photoshop will be nothing but a filter-trip for you. Besides, Photoshop is expensive/long to download.

I did a little detail on a pixel job Tom did a few days ago, simply using some brushes. Came out pretty great. The original looked nice, but with the addition of depth and gleam made it just pops out at you... it's a lot easier to add that depth in Photoshop than it is with Paint.

Yeah. I don't think he meant average as in skill wise though, there are some exceptionally talented pixelers that use MS Paint.
