Downloading

I could swear I saw some servers with this.
When you first log on, all the images the player will need (or at least the large ones) are downloaded so they don't lag later.
How is this done without showing the image then hiding it, and how would I make use of a gui that would come up when the player is downloading it?

also, how could I display something that tells the player they are downloading something?

Good question! I think all worlds should on this route, it would be much better.

ugh, that's not a ton of help. Unless all you have to do is create the file and every thing else just happens
I wanted to be able to trigger it at certain times, or when an images is downloading, it would show a progress bar, etc

Yup, pretty much.

That's a little bit different from what (I thought) you were originally asking for. The update package is the best and easiest way to go though.

Okay, and for the update packages, how do you tell it what to update?
I don't quite get how it knows to go from the base to another text file

You're looking for these three variables then:

downloadfile - string (read only)
downloadpos - integer (read only)
downloadsize - integer (read only)
