How exactly do they work? I know that the buddy list is now stored on the server, but can I find that list somewhere? All of a sudden I have tons of old buddies listed from eons ago. Did previous Graal versions upload the buddy accounts txt file or what?

Only Graal 4.
The playerlist uses either a sendtext() or a requesttext() (I don't remember which) to download the buddy list from the listserver when you connect.
