Arguements about Relic

This is for people who want to argue about:

http://forums.graalonline.com/forums...ad.php?t=59273

I do not want that thread cluttered with useless arguments of how minor things happens... I don't mind comments, but if you're in a mood of debating, here's the place.

Sorry for those who aren't involved!

Well... Perament Death is just a way to make the game realistic. In usual circumstances, the player wouldn't be exposed to death. It isn't a server for PKing. In that insight, an adventurer will be exposed a lot more to the effects of death then other people. Thereby, a warrior would be that much more important... Instead of having 20 people going into the dungeons, dieing, and retrying to go into them untill they reach the gold, there will be risk involved, and the risks will be a lot higher.

Stop changing font colors damn it!

No. If you die, your character is dead. You can, if you read the document correctly, create a new character, or use another character you had.

That reminds me of Hardcore mode in Diablo. I was thinking the other day it would be cool if a server made that option. I think it would be fun if a server had this feature. Like Velox said it would make the game alot more riskier.

Yes. My level 36 Barbarian in ACT III. I quickly learnt the Alt + F4, but I wasn't quick enough!

I've been too scared to do Hardcore, currently I have a level 78 Non-Ladder Barb with Dual Light Sabres.

Very true. And I know that the server should in some or most ways cater to the players and their wants, but if people don't like it, they don't have to play it.

For the people that do, they'll love it.

I think it could work in some games, but not this. And players wont keep coming back for more. Maybe, instead, you could have something like limitations on your character after death (e.g: Only able to regain 80% health, and use so many weapons or something) until you do something such as return to where you died to start again from that location. [/EVERQUEST SPIRIT IDEA]

Although I think Maloria did something like this, die and become a ghost, then you had to be respawned somewhere - it's not a bad idea and a lot more desireable than permadeath.

If you are doing what you are doing, then it could be a really good server possibly, with lots of appeal, it would be a shame to just annoy everyone and make them not want to play again.

Another alternative would be maybe you lose some weapons/items/health/money from quests you have done, and you have to re-do a certain amount of quests again.

In other words, anything but permadeath!

I'm not trying to do something that would be the most appealing server for the average player. Infact... Players don't get very much stronger durring the whole game. What really gets one player better then another is the items, and even with that, it's not all that different (maybe a point or two higher in one category?). That can be contoured with Will.

As for "Realism isn't always desired"... There's other servers for that. I don't want to go into what every other server does. It's my way of doing things, and I perfer having a server where PKing is discouraged completely. (In the sense that if you kill someone, they'll probably hire someone when they get a new character to kill you.) I know this goes against what most graal players are against.

EDIT

On a second thought, I might be able to do it so that they choose between light mode and hard mode. The difference would be in light mode, you don't get a lot of experience, and death removes 20% of it... Random Items are dropped, and you respawn at the last city you visited. Hard Mode is, you gain experience faster, your threshold for max skill is higher, but you die once, and that's it. The one week without dieing would only be applied to Hard Mode.

But you just said that dying isn't so significant. Most unstable idiots would be willing to take the hit if it lets them disrupt somebody else's experience.

I really don't think you've thought this through.

It isn't significant to the player's perspective... In the sense that if you ignore the whole dead thing, it wouldn't alter the game by much.

I've thought it out for a while. I want it that way.

Sounds interesting. So as long as dying isn't really easy, then I guess it could be interesting/fun/challenging.

syltburk -- I don't get your statement. If it was a question, I referred my goals to make it realistic beforehand. I am trying to put it realistic in comparision to other servers.

As for Kaimetsu -- Realism isn't always desirable. I'm not trying to get all people's attention, but rather a few good roleplayers. The focus of the server isn't based on killing each other for entertainment -- UN and Zone does a great show of that. I focus on player interaction and cooperation rather.

Each playerworld with it's own idea. I have my idea, it's quite original. If you people want to see another classic type playerworld, there are plenty in the making. Don't complain that they all resemble themselves when new ideas comes out and you just squash it due to being aimed to a lower playercount population.

Other then that -- I've been quite busy lately, but I won't be stopping the project. It's made a pretty healthy way up to date. If progress continues such, it'll be quite good. I doubt that I'll leave it.

Yeah but with such a severe penalty for dying id be way too scared to ever battle, for fear of death and losing all my hard work. Im not too sure about permadeath being a good idea...

anyway I made this for you. It was my first venture into Iso. The psp and psd files are also attached that has another type of grass too. Its all yours if you want it.
