I think part of it was the scripts weren't designed to handle so many people.

There was a lot of problems. People were complaining of lag and then that whole big thing with Houdiniman abusing his power and disrupting an event.

I hope there is another one cause I want to take part this time since I got another computer that is faster than my old one

Basically Tyhm couldn't script worth beans. He wouldn't let anyone help him fix anything. The event was a big disappointment. I think he just kind of got frustrated and gave up on ever doing that again.

It really was terrible though. For the first 5 minutes I was on, it seemed okay, but then just got progressively laggier. By the time the first events were starting, I was lagging so bad that I couldn't move, and I just started warping all over the place, with people standing there. I'd walk into a door and instead of being on the right level, I'd be in the middle of an arena and then back out in the hallway again.

Yea I was the same way Koni, warping everywhere. The server was so laggy that my isp kept crashing and i would have to unplug my modem and plug it back in for my internet to work again. It was very bad. Oh well so much for that failed project. I mean I thought the idea was great but it could of been done better

If it went back up I think either Tyhm would have to run it or someone else with a good backround as a Manager...Just paying $59.99 doesnt mean you have the right skills to be responcible, fair, orginized and on top of things

Plus that is pretty stupid that he would not let anyone script for him -.-

What does it matter what the other servers are doing it shouldnot bother you there money is paying for Graal witch helps us in the long run.

If they are crappy managers there playerworld doesnot go up I dont see how it matters to anyone.

I think its cool going to all the pw and seeing what the community can do I was like that when I first started I worked on San as a LAT I was so bad then I dont even know how I made the team then became Admin then I started to get better. What I am trying to say is that the more a player works on a pw the better he becomes witch he will work on a diff pw for free and help out graal.

Actually, it wouldn't be too bad of an idea if servers competed to host the graalympics... Graalympus server isn't too bad aside from the lag and the tiling of the central arena. It would probably be funner to hold them once every three months. I won the first endurance contest (god was that freakishly boring)... but I never got a t-shirt or anything because I joked in my email to tyhm that I would send back the shirt to see if I could get a cash refund and he called that "threatening to defraud graal"... or something like that. Not that I care about getting a T-Shirt... The ability to have a second guild if I won would be cool... or like an exclusive global guild tag that said "Endurance Champion", or something...

Tyhm has a spectacular aura about
It was a nightmare, I agree.
I had to make a world with a skeleton crew for staffers, so there would be no risk of someone giving anyone hints on how to run the events.
I had to contact all the PW Owners to get them to find representatives. And none of them wanted to participate.
I had to keep offering incentives that I knew Unixmad would never deliver on (incidentally, the prizes were real; the extra prize for signing up I've never heard anything else about, he hinted and did nothing)
I had to use an engine I'd never used before (I'm a clientside man) with no testers.
I had to take the most traffic EVER on the slowest server EVER.
Angel and I had to invent scripts to do things which, to my knowledge, have never been successfully done before. And probably that's still true today.
I had to make each event fair regardless of the inevitability of lag.
I had to adjudicate the winner in an event where both players are handicapped by impossible latency.
All this with practically no word from Stefan on what's going wrong with the server, a hint to what needs to be fixed in the scripts, nothing. Unixmad was gonna come online for the events to draw traffic and had me advertise that each time, nothing. I was gonna have an announcement on the website well in advance, a schedule posted, nothing. I was gonna have 13 teams of 5 players each and a specific timeline for when each could be online for their event, nothing. I was gonna have more than a month to make the Winter Graalympics for XMas Break, nada.

I got a server port to make my little one man generated world. People liked the autograph books. I consider that a success.

lol, tyhm. You have a lot of pressure put on you, I agree. I think you seem more stressed out than you should be, though. If you don't have the time and resources given to you when you say you'd need them, you can just say "told ya so"

I agree on the autograph books. I just wish that you could carry more than one thing at a time, though... Like you could have a soda, and then set it aside to take out your autograph book.

But honestly, Tyhm, if you're this stressed out about things you should just quit. It's not worth being stressed out over.

Why quit over one thing o.o

Ive got a server crew who, willingly, wants to host it... We have NATs LATs and a good team for actually pulling it off, instead of a one-manned job like you-Tyhm did very very good indeed-did, to make the server a good one.

Were gonna limit the NPCs and stuff however, to have less lag, and the levels were makeing, are gonna be to, not be really really pretty, but to be so that players who arnt actually competeing, can still watch, and those players who ARE competeing, wont lagg from the other players.

I wanted to get Tyhms permission, along with some other stafferz, before actually going threw, and putting up everything. Id want SOME support from the staff... And screw the material prizes, the winning and pride and stuff, will do for the average player.

Tyhm, im sending you an E-mail.

If one no longer enjoy Graal then you should take a break from it.

If one feels restrainted because one is a long respected admin, one shouldn't be. Especially when the admin position doesn't offer any comfort.
