EoA is not gone

ok, after a little... situation with the person who 'gave' us server space, we are now "kicked out" so to speak. If the server name 'End of Ages' IS on the player list on RC, or you can connect to it, it's not EoA, because we backed everything up, and deleted everything.

EoA will be returning as soon as possible. We will be buying our own PW this time, since now we have the money, which we did not before. I hope that the currently named EoA can be changed back to 'playerworld41' or whatever the renter wants it to be.

Anyways, this won't slow down development much, just cause a little confusion, since the same person also deleted our forums. (which is why I am posting a thread here, so my staff know what's going on)

He wouldn't be just setting forums up just for him, but for everyone that works for the server.. We've had very bad luck with forums for this server.. =(

Work on EoA has been coming along nicely since we have pretty much settled down on our new server. Last I checked we still need the server renamed and the tileset uploaded. I actually would prefer that the tileset not be uploaded until I fix some of the things on there and it looks like that might happen.

We have new grass tiles that I made and I have been busy updating all the spots on the tileset so they use the new graphics. The drawback with replacing the grass tiles is that now I have to remake all the ground, sand, water, swamp, trees, and some other tiles to match the grass since right now they do not blend so well. I am focusing all my attention on completing the tileset once and for all so I can devote more of my attention to npc and level graphics. That does not mean in any way that I am rushing the tileset graphics, this just means that I am only working on the tileset and nothing else.

Our new tileset and other new graphics, awesome quality of levels made by our talented LATs, and new and unique scripts coming from our NATs will be a sight to see. Players will be able to enjoy a completly different and unique player experience that should more than live up the high expectation that we already have.

Just another quick update for all of you. I have been working on the tileset changing the grass tiles and every tile that uses them. We have two different grasses on our tileset so I have had to work more than if I was using an average tileset. I cannot use the existing shadows tiles on the tileset, so I have had to change every tile that uses those as well. The first version did not come out like I thought they would so I am working on another one. Naturally, I have to now edit practically every outside level graphic to blend in with the new grass graphics but it will be worth it in the end.

We are constantly testing out new ideas and concepts on an almost daily basis so things will be good as we start getting closer to our approach date. One that I might like to mention is that we are not using a graal generated map but I am in fact drawing a real map for our server with location names and icons instead of looking at those sometimes very strange looking graal generated maps. And you can rest assured that since I am making the map, the minimap will be an actual "minimap" and not a huge beast of a map that is anything but mini.

Once we agree what to show off, you can expect to see some updated screenshots in the near future.

Good news everyone. I have completed the beta version of the EoA Release 9 Tileset. For those who do not know the significance, this release focuses on me making new grasses and snow graphics, remaking all the shadows that use those tiles, and then finally integrating them into the tileset. It has been a long, laborous process but at least the first phase is now done. I will be adding some new tiles to the tileset as well as editing some existing ones in order for them to blend better with the new graphics. Some exisiting tiles that I plan to change include both tables, possible new chairs, new bed, church walls, and fix some old dithering problems on our tileset from a long time ago.

I should have the fully completed Release 9 Tileset finished within a few days but even without we doing that, the beta tileset is way better than the old versions. I hope everyone will enjoy the new look and look forward to me reworking all the common tiles such as the swamp, sand, ground, and water tiles in the very near future. Since I already completed the grasses and snow tiles, I gained good experience that should help me make those very common tiles even better.

Just thought I would keep everyone up to date about all the things going on at End of Ages. It seems I am the PR person for EoA, but that is ok I do not mind.

I have revived our old website and I am hosting it so EoA has a web presence again. Parts of it are old and out of date but I have been working on getting things updated and working once again. I have been discussing some different options I have of handling our forums, so expect to have them up and running in the very near future. The staff list, becoming staff, and current map of EoA are working and can be reached using our website. While you are there, make sure to take a look at our map. It will give you a much clearer idea about the quality and sheer scale of the EoA world and why we have not made access to it from the public just yet. We want to make sure the first time people log onto the released server, that they will have a huge and new server to explore. The wait will be well worth it.
