Updateboard

I got bored and wanted to play with the new functions (hasright, serverside updateboard) and (since I knew one was to be made anyway, wanted to play) started making an online level editor. It's pretty much done, just have to do minor stuff now really...like adding the stuff in a box you can move around the screen and scroll through it and stuff, and a few other things, all of which are simple....anyway...when I use updateboard on Delteria it'll update for everyone on the level, then like 10 seconds later it disappears and goes back to what it was before...

Is Delt's gserver just not setup to handle that yet, or what? I'm not really worried about it that much till I get the rest of this finished (started about 4-5 hours ago, 'bout to go to bed...it'll take me like an hour or two to finish and have it nice, which I'll do tomorrow)....but I thought I'd post in here and ask (will prolly ask Jagen on aim tomorrow too) and see if anyone knew what was up.

Bleh, sorry for the long nonsense parts of the post...It's 6am and I'm tired and that's just the way my brain works under these conditions.

Is Delteria the first place you tested it online? If so, it might be because you're not setting the tiles serverside? The updateboard and tile setting needs to be done serverside.

When was all this new stuff added? I knew about changing tiles serverside, but not saving them; I think it'd be better if savelevel was a command, not a serveroption :x. Also, how does hasright work? o.o

if (hasright(w,levels/level.graal))

I have it so that the tiles change for everyone and stays, but doesn't save.

I put the savelevels=true in server ops and did updateboard2 and everything....dunno why.

Oh well, I'll worry about that after I finish the editor. I'm fixing up the image for the scrolling window now.

hasright()? Naw, it only works for files in FTP. It finds out what files you can access whenever you logon player and holds it. So if you set your rights after you're connected to player, you have to reconnect before it shows you having rights to 'em. That was like one of the first things I tested.

Does it work server-side/client-side?

Oh, and Also...it seems to take awhile for the changes to be saved permenantly. If you make the changes, then don't wait long enough and you or someone else updates the level, it'll all be lost. I didn't time it (I'm about to do that), but it takes upwards of 10-20 minutes atleast.

Are you kidding me? Updateboard does TONS of cool effects. Among other things, it is a far nicer way of protecting a door to have tiles laid down as opposed to a gif.

Also, with practice you can make graal DANCE. One of my more complex tile animations was the creation of a bridge.

Jagen mentioned something about every 2 minutes.

As for rights: your rights (be they RC or client) don't refresh until you reconnect on client.

It's more than 2 minutes. I started to clock how long it takes, but got impatient. It takes more than 15 though.

And that's not entirely true about the rights. As far as NC and rights on client when using hasright(), and warpto/update level goes, it is...but if you change your FTP rights or you remove/add rights other than those which I listed and you're on client, you can still use them on RC without having to reconnect on client.

After I get it finished (work gets in the way) imma put it where everyone can warp to my test level and edit it. There's some stuff I wanna do first...like instead of it just automatically updating, where it does it clientsided, holding what you change in a string, and you have to press a button to save it serversided.

wouldnt that bother if many people tried editing at once, but all only saw their clientside effects?
and then a lot of people at once sent to the server to save the tiles
