An old idea brought back

Since rahz has most unfortunatly left us I think everyone should look at one of his better idea's. Whaling. We have boats, we have spears. all we need are the NPC scripts and GFX. you could have oil lamps. and stuff like that so u could have more efficent lighting and u could get food also

Yeah, there ought to be SOMEthing to do on ships. Maybe that can be where the next big threat is, you can fight Krakens and Harpies and Sirenes and Erinyes and sharks and those whales with the noses, you know, the unicorn whales...they ram the ship...in really really deep water, you fight water beasts. But first you have to set the cannons up to give experience for kills I suppose...

I really like the idea. Our boat's stamina would go down so we would have to bring a bundle of boards while fighting and repairing the ship.

This would be real fun.

Yes, I have supported whaling since I first saw it proposed. That would ROCK. And with the dangerous beasts, naval battles would get more interesting.

Pirate ship closes on another kingdom's ship, begins firing..... the two ships enter a long series of dodging and cannon volleys..... suddenly a huge, mysterious beast rises out of the ocean, picks a ship at random, and rips it to shreds (maybe not that quickly). The survivor sails on....

I am sorry to report, Stefan* has told me that this will not be implemented for the following reasons:

1. They have alot more** to worry about right now.

2. The graphics team consists of 1 person*** who is currently incarcirated in the local jailhouse.

3. The programmers have recently joined the Jahova's witnesses****.

4. Viper has just Hacked Millionth consecutive account because they guy never changed his password*****. So it is time for a celebration.

5. The npc server is down******.

6. Matt Damon is satan********.

Yeah, that would be cool. We should get other beasts though, like sea serphants(sp?) and stuff.

There is something to do. Go near the islands and leave the latter out and when people try to get on pull them up and down and tease them.

It would be cool if there were unicorn whales. Depending where they hit your ship or how hard it is it takes around 1-20% off the boat. So then you get boards to repair it like someone sails.

Jormungander (epic norse sea serpent) could be cool. Constricts around the ship, deals continuing crushing damage, damagable by melee (or ranged) weapons, slows the ship or totally immobilizes it...

Trick with sea monsters, they have to give the reward directly to who killed them (or to everyone who damaged them, depending) - you can't pick up stuff on the water.

hmmm i do think that we should implement whaling (of course this is manly since i live in Massachusetts and it was the biggest whaling area from Europe and the US at the time) but maybe not exactly but when u kill a sea monster u have special ships drag the knocked out monster on the ship and then kill it and it drops junk like bottle of oil and serphant heart?

But sea monsters could be good. Easy graphically, you just show the part above the water as it attacks...
