Graal Classic Level Submission Rules Updated

Hello Graalians I am the new level reviewer for Graal Classic and I am posting these rules. If you are planning on submitting a level then please read all these rules and make sure that your level conforms with all of them or else I will just return it to you with a link to this thread. Here they are then:

Graal Level Submission Rules

1/All levels must be submitted in .graal format.

2All Levels MUST be named "YOURGRAALNICKwhatever.graal".
Example: soulshotel1.graal

3/All your level names must be submitted in lower case and must include no special characters.

4/If you plan to submit a house you can either:
A-Only make the interior to the house and then find a house outside that is already made and has a little yellow man who says “House available for rent”. All you have to do is look in your profile and take note of the level that it is in, and then state this level when submitting your house.
Example: Please put my house in the small house in uwavalon22.graal
B-If you want to design the outside of your house as well, then please make the outside entrance on a plain green field. All houses will be placed at centralized locations throughout Graal Classic.

5/If you have a whole set of outside levels, then include the name of the level(s) that are to warp to existing online levels. Include any extra specific warp details as well.

6/NPC scripts must:
-Not give away hearts for no reason.
-Not give away money for no reason.
-Not kill players for no reason.

7/All complex NPCs (ie. scripted baddies, weapons and other complex scripts) will have to be first approved. In your email, you should have a text file describing the NPC (eg. how it works, what it does, etc) and the actual script must also be contained in this text file. We will check the script(s) and tell you if it is approved or if any portions need fixing.

8/Any custom head/sword/shield GIF MUST be already on the Server. If it is not, please submit the GIF first and wait until it is added to the Server before sending in your level(s).

9/Changing your sword/shield MAY NOT increase/decrease your sword/shield power. The NPC script should look like this:

sword : setsword gifname, players[0].swordpower
shield : setshield gifname, players[0].shieldpower

10/You cannot give more than 300 gelat in your town/set of levels.

11/Individual levels cannot give more than 20.

12/You cannot give more than 300 gelat in your town/set of levels.

13/The following items cannot me added:
-Any fullhearts.
-The axe, the lizard sword, the golden sword, the mirror shield or the lizard shield.
-Gloves 2 and 3.
-The bow, fireball, fire blast, creature flame shot, or the nuke shot.
-Super or jolt bombs.

14/Any single level file should not exceed 60k and a graphic file should not exceed 20k.

15/All Graphics must be in PNG or MNG format instead of GIF.

16/All necessary Graphics must be included in the folder.

17/Levels cannot use the grass tileset indoors unless it is surrounded by a border.

18/All warps should be in the upper half of doors and not at the bottom.

19/Levels cannot include hats.

20/All warps should make the player appear right in front of the door, this may mean using a 0.5 coordinate such as 30.5 for example.

21/All bookcases must feature writing of something.

22/There may be no swearing of any kind in a Graal level, and no graphic language either.

23/Please do not give away answers to quests, advertise any websites or inform players of glitchs such as the “reconnect trick” in your signs.

24/Please check all signs for spelling mistakes.

25/Please include ALL the related GFX files.

If you re-submit your level, then please do not refer to any previous submissions in the fields of the form.
Example do not put “Same as before”.

I will work through 2 submissions a day so you can expect to wait for up to a week to receive a reply, but I will reply to you, and I will be working towards you.

Please state in your submission where you would like your house to be positioned around the Graal Classic world. PLEASE DO NOT GIVE ANY STUPID POSITIONS such as “Well I would like to have my house in place of newbie house.” I am not going to name names, but someone really did say that.

ok, I read all of that, but do we submit the levels with the level submitter on the graalonline main page or do we send them to you via email? by the way, nice to see you move up from the ranks of "SFX" on UN to levels reviewer on Classic

Oh Why rule 1, standard format should be .nw,

Yeah and most people when using the editor usually forget to save as .graal and its a hassle.

Rule 1 because Classic already uses .graal for everything, I got a program that rips all the NPCs in a directory to a text file on .graal levels (but not .nws)...
It would be better to have all .nw files on Classic, but then I'd have to convert all 6000 levels, manually. Unless some benevolent coder chooses to make me a batcher. ^_^

ok, you seem to be a *****. I don't refer to my friends as 'homies', I don't refer to my neighborhood (?) as 'da hood' and I sure as hell don't use 'pwn'. So why even bother trying to look 'cool' by bringing others down? I was just joking around.

6000 levels. *shudder. That includes all of the links/warps too, ugh. I remember for a project I had to convert .zelda's to .graal's. changing the filenames were easy enough (thanks to some odd shareware program) , but going through all the warps was really hard.

There is a program that changes all .graal levels to .nw along with all links etc.. Jagen told me after I spent over 6 hours doing it manuelly on Providence

It took him a matter of seconds.

Whoa! So many important people have read my thread. I feel honoured =) and yr it probably would be easier to check .nw levels, but Tyhm doesnt fancy changing 6000 levels to .nw format, lol, so I have been told that all levels on classic that are submitted must be in .graal format. I would like to take this as hte chance to say that with these new rules in place and the checker.exe program Tyhm gave me I am finding level checking much easier, and I am really enjoying my job =)

Thats why I said pm. I wasnt sure if he wanted any of it given out.

Yeah, Soul, it should say something about how we've gone png and mng. And I ICQd ya a bunch of other fixes a couple days ago.
