Friend just started playing. (Improve?)

He can't log onto his account, and he has just started the game. I don't know how he started with a gun but after someone kept saying hi, and taking a while to ask him if he could talk.. unsure why you would ask someone who isn't talking if you see they walking around and pressing a bunch of buttons lol.

Either way, Zero *Supervisor* was decently nice, and did bother to help him.. and tried to give him a gun. He gave him an uzi, ?I think?, and showed my friend to the mines. Zero is now mining to give my friend money.

This was astonishing to me, but I really think my friend got lucky... I still believe there should be a tutorial, but he was not disconnected from this server the first time logging in "could be only for any Graal servers them selves once".

Anyway, Zero mined and got him some money to I guess buy a drill, actually he is teaching him how to deposit money.

Currently, besides the absence of a tutorial, he has only had problems going through doors, and picking up a gun and money.. A doesn't seem to be a great feature for these things lol..

I'm not helping him at all, nor do I really know how. Also, trying to work the ATM machine, he didn't know how much gralats he had, and pressed in 100 then pressed deposit.. nothing happened. He tried it about 10 times more and was disconnected lol.. Possibly add in deposit max?

Someone named Kodak *Trial* is teaching him how to set his head now.. but my friend asked how to fire and didn't know what "say sethead head3.png" meant..

They seem very patient with my friend also, it took a while to find out he needed ammo, and I guess they are now showing him how to get ammo. xD

2 players helping him now.
Zero is now buying ammo for my friend, and laid it on the ground for him... after grabbing over the ammo about three times, grabbing the table and walking a few times he finally picked it up.. lol..

Zero is now teaching him about the hold Q button.
After being told to click it, he keeps clicking the ammo, and ... still having technical difficulties..

-still observing-

Slightly frustrated he can't use the gun lol
Zero is now trying to walk him through it better..
Hurray he can shoot!

I guess he knows how to use inventory, reload, and shoot. "I don't even know all this"

Zero just gave him a second Uzi... or at least its taking a long while for him to press A on the Uzi.. Took about 30 seconds but he now has two Uzis. My friend is happy.

Zero is now trying to tell him "say sethead head.png". My friend said "head.png" and took a few seconds to say what he wanted. -Not to self, setting attributes via text doesn't sound like a good idea.

My friend finally got his head to sethead, and is now trying the bouncing ball shield Zero is trying to get him to do. -I had to tell him he had to spell shield right lol

Zero then said "forget it", "forget the code." My friend typed it right, but I think because he is a guest, he cannot set shields? "I stepped in and said he could press up on the keyboard to get back to other chats in the past."

About 3 minutes later he still hasn't given up trying to get him to do the shield.

He asked if he remembered the code, my friend asked what code, and he said the code for the ball.

A few minutes later, still trying to get him to say it and it keeps erasing my friends text and doing nothing.

I'm over here laughing because he's basically learned how to look like the guy... The helper now has to go.

Before he left, my friend said oh no I'm going to be lost, and Zero said, remember use guns. -Zero signs off-



Friend walks around, asks how to use the car and I said I don't know but they probably cost a lot.. then some random person came up and slashed him with a light saber, killing him. He then asked me what HP means.

He went into a bed with someone and said haha look we are spooning..

He ran up the hospital stares, and someone called him a lamer and did a noob sign... then when my friend ran outside, the guy started trying to stab him with a knife a few times, and then ran inside and killed him.


I don't think hes going to get any help from this point on.
He ran out, used his uzis, and died trying spar outside of the hospital "obviously not shooting in the right direction and even hitting the person"

After dying he said what the hell man, ef Graal, ef this game. "Sorry I don't like to curse".
He then said "I'm not leaving".

He is going out again, and before he goes out of the hosptial, sees the guy running out and says "THERE HE GOES AGAIN THE LITTLE EFFER, I hate this game, ef this game, no point if I can't get out of the hospital"

He ran out of the hospital and is running around. Confused how the server ended on a road lol.. now hes swimming looking for an island.. xD

Told him to type in servername Classic and then enter.
Experience ends here...



So far it seems there are / was a nice person to help my friend out, but I don't think it will go anywhere except being able to 1 head, 1 shield, and to use a gun until it runs out. Couldn't really do anything or figure out anything.

Era seems like a better server for players to start off on. "By only one test trial" Still not great at all.

Yeah, he got more help then I got when I tried playing again... it was odd someone walked up to him and said hi trying to talk to him. Never happened to me... :'[

I was awestruck.. Then it went downhill from their after dying xD

We do have a FAQ center in place (F11 > Frequently Asked Questions) but we are also working on a tutorial to help players with problems such as the ones your friend was having. The FAQ center should have the basics to get him started off, if he needs any additional help he can always say 'showadmins' and PM a staff member, they'll be more than happy to help.

When I start playing a game, I don't want to go through webpages and windows filled with information on how I should play, having to refer back to know what the next step in actually having fun is.

I just want to start playing the game. An in game tutorial is much more helpful than any documentation is.

Zeus was working on (or sitting in) the tutorial levels yesterday. I'm sure it is in the works if not already used main-stream.

Well Zues seemed pretty nice; you all should be grateful there are players like him on your server.

As for the F11 thing, I don't remember it showing on the screen he could use the F11 button.. Kind of just started him on the game running around where Zero managed to find him and say hi. :o

Happened to be there at his convenience lol..


As for the wikia and such.. I'd have to download a game, and to be able to play it be told to click on a few website links.. D: as kia345 stated, you kind of want to play the game, and learn in game..

We are talking about my friend/roommate, having no Graal experience whatsoever and trying different servers.. for my observation and amusement purposes. Actually one of my friends told him to download it, and never really met up with him. Another of my friends helped him on Classic after about 5 hours of trying the game.. lol

^.^; It would quite amusing to me..

Personally, I feel servers need an easy to get to key-map, something that tells how to get to it, and in game instructions that are easily seen.. Classic had some but some also were small.. Didn't explain much about the icon on the map which I guess, like my friend, some may not assume it is part of the quest and that is just part of the map..

I had to hold back helping him... D:
He dropped his soup by monsters 4-5 times, carefully trying to avoid the ones he already passed and not doing much about what else my attack in front of him... Used the F word a few times too..

How are The players that need the help the most supposed to know what a FAQ center is or to go there?

Might be worth looking into finishing the tutorial I was working on if the one you have now isn't exemplary; the instance system is already done and the text is written and even translated already.

It's called reading. when new people start the Info. window pops up "n" and it tells them everything. If they don't learn to read the information then they will be stuck 4ever.
