Angry This is dead now. srsly

So Zone staff. Are you for reaL?? Are you really just letting Zone crumple. Do you not care about the server. If so why not delete it. I'm so ****ing tired of logging on and seeing the ****ing npc-server online. Why won't you guys improve zone. Listen to your players and give us what we want. Stop updating stuff because clearly its not working.. Stephan. Why are you leting this happen. Where is a staff team. Where is a Developement team. There is not a single leader in the staff of Zone. Nobody is taking the role of the manager. The one that is supposed to seems to be running from it. I wish you guys make a future of zone....

What do you expect from a manager if a manager doesn't have the tools that is needed to do the job?

That manager could atleast show his support by logging in to his own server. Not just idling on GK all day.

If it's any consolation, GK never got much either. Zone was always the favorite nephew, it's about time you've been shunned too.

Alright, just going to throw this idea out.
Yeah, I know I'm going to get a lot of bad rep from this one, but I felt I might as well put it out in the open.
Both Zone and GK are practically dead. They do get some players now and then, but not enough for players to get good interactive play.
Meanwhile, the permanent playerworlds like Zodiac, Era, and UN get 50 - 100 players during main play hours.
Maybe it's time we thought about changing some of those into gold servers...of course there would be a lot of paperwork, and figuring out how management is going to work out....but if those are what the players want, shouldn't it be the main focus?

If Zodiac/Era/UN were gold the player count would decrease because the vast majority of their player base has lifetime classic, and I doubt they would all upgrade to gold to play the server.

Well what else is there left to do? Leave up the inactive gold servers in hopes that better staff or tons of new players will magically appear?

Not true, at all. They'd lose some, but not a lot. That's exactly what happened when Stefan introduced P2P to Graal. The player count dropped for AWHILE, everywhere. Eventually people cough up the small funds to enjoy what they want, and everyone is happy (for the most part).

I'd have to support making Zodiac, and Era, Gold servers.

On the topic of Zone, i could be wrong, but i thought Skyld was the acting manager for Zone.

Aren't Era and Zodiac's current relatively large playercount partly contributed to by the fact that observer mode is removed?
You also have to consider that prices were alot smaller when P2P was first introduced compared to now and that there was the promise of lifetime basic subscription to accompany the purchase of Gold.
Considering this I would imagine such a change having an extreme effect on playercount in the current climate of Graal.

However with the supposed changes to subscriptions that are being touted for V6 onwards it's possible that a greater balance between income and playercount could be achieved, it would also defeat the purpose of the Gold Tab, hard to say whether this would allow GK and Zone to start flourishing or whether they'd continue suffering the post-Stefan affect.

Nice to see I have some support.
And I don't think it would drop that much either.
You have to understand what Graal does to people.
Graal has a very addictive quality to it. Those who do play do it with hard dedication. Trust me, I've tried to leave, and hell, it ain't easy.

Completely wrong and couldn't be further from the truth. Graal's playercount plummeted after the introduction of full p2p and it never recovered.

I wouldn't. Playermade servers were never supposed to even be p2p until they realized their own servers sucked. The future of Graal is free to play with microtransactions anyway so this entire topic is not only wrong but pointless.

While it is true that Graal largely consists of a fairly hardcore playerbase a high proportion are current/former developers or server staff rather than keen players, and it is lifetime Classic subscription that has provided and continues to provide the backbone of staff, remaining keen players or people that continue to log on to socialise with those they have become friends with, take that out of the equation and alot of that dedication will go out along with it.

Graal's addiction stems from its inadequacy. People only get stuck on Graal because it's such an unpopular game that few people play. It's easy to get to the top, and once you're there, you don't want to leave because you forget it only took a couple minutes to get there.

Asking those people at the top to pay money drives them off. Hence why the only old GK or Zone players still on Graal are those with lifetime Classic.

Although that is true in certain cases, it isn't always that. The people and the interaction are also a huge part for some people. Although power is a big factor, it isn't easy to leave everyone behind either.

The people and interaction factor isn't going to be anywhere near as big a factor in the event of having to pay the current prices for it on top of a desperate lack of decent content and regular decent updates across Graal as a whole.

If for example Era and Zodiac were made Gold servers tomorrow the likelihood is that the trend of refugees migrating to UN would continue or towards any server where you can do some of the same things without having to pay.

As mentioned previously though the future of Graal subscriptions supposedly lies in micro transactions so this idea is completely beyond contemplation.

Well maybe we should fix it so anyone who has playerworld permanent subscriptions has permanent access to any playerworlds that are moved to gold servers. Then everyone is happy, right?

This would render the Gold Tab entirely pointless and in this case see the playercount of Era and Zodiac more or less revert back to what it was prior to observer mode being removed.

What difference would that make for zone

He would just idle on zone, it's equal to making a npc of the manager and every time u approach the npc it would say "I support zone".

The thing that I am trying to point out is that he can't do much for zone even though hes manager. So don't expect by changing managers zone will become playable.

Complain @ those that do have the ability to revive zone.

First game I've ever played that hired players as staff members, so I thought it was really cool. Small community, etc. I liked, and still like Graal because of that.

Before iPhone Graal was introduced the average daily playerbase was less than a quarter of what it was in 2001-2002.
Back then it wasn't uncommon to have 230 people on Classic as a time. And then I remember having to wait through queues of 150+ ghosts to get onto the server after the first implementation of ghost mode was introduced. UN and G2K1 weren't far behind in playercount.

I don't think any single server has topped 200 players on a regular basis after P2P was introduced.

And thus, shows how some unfortunate people here forget who is really worth leaving behind when it comes down to them being overly addicted. Your pals in your real life, or your pals in a virtual unpopular video game you're probably never going to really meet.

Yeah there were still a lot of lifetime classic players around back then, as they've quit nowhere near as many new players have joined to take their places, which is why the playercount dropped so slowly after the first initial drop.

Back when trials couldn't save somebody on Era scripted something that let them store items, and it caused a whole furore and the server almost got shut down because of it and blah blah blah.

Everyone knew that P2P wasn't going to work back in 2001. If they'd listened back then we could have spent the last 9 years making this game better instead of slowly watching it get worse and worse. What a ****ing waste.

Graal is a great example of bad management.
I guess examples like these must exist.

Sorry if this is terribly noobish, but back in 2001 was every server as popular as the iphone servers are now? Because judging from that screenshot it looks like it.

Not that popular and the iPhone is special because it's a completely different platform.
