Tileset Downloading Problem

On N-Pulse's Debug server the tilesets are no longer downloading to the users computer when they log on, and neither is the tiledef file. Anybody know what can cause this and a way to fix it?

No they're still there and the tileset system is still intact as well.

This all started around the time that the servers crashed a couple weeks ago.

hmmm you could try deleting/reuploading the files, and eventualy restart the server? since it crashed, it probably caused something wrong somewhere, which is something hard to define and solve just like that.

I can't restart the server because Stefan hasn't transfered the server over to me which Abjorn requested a while ago to be done since he no longer plays Graal. I've already tried deleting and reuploading a couple of times.

When using /find to, duh, find them, does it say "downloadable" or "not downloadable"? If it's the latter, make sure your folder config is alright.

Try /refreshfilelist on RC. If that doesn't do the trick, I'm out of ideas. Seems like you'd be better off talking to Stefan about this anyway.

A tiledef file isn't something that has to be downloaded (while it is possible to do it that way) but is generated by script, the fact it wouldn't be appearing would suggest a lack of any addtiledef functions, and if the tiledefs don't exist that would suggest why the tileset images wouldn't be downloading as they wouldn't be requested until first used.
Still you could try forcing them to download via a GUPD.

Maybe your computer already recognizes them as downloaded?
Have you tried delete FILENAMECACHE.txt and restarting the client?

It's not just my Client its everybodys Clients that are having this issue. It's not just the tiledef that won't download/install its the tilesets as well. FILENAMECACHE isn't the problem for once. The problem is on the server, and as I've stated this is something that started after the servers were crashed. The tileset system has not been changed and was functioning properly before the crash, but since then we have been having to have our staff go through multiple steps in order to get the tileset to load online and offline for them to do their jobs.

It has nothing to do with the system. The system would not stop the tilesets from downloading to your Graal folder the way they're supposed to.

I think it's the most logical explanation though, if the tiledef file does not exist the chances are the reason for the images not downloading is that they aren't being requested, have you tried making the tileset an NPC image for instance to ensure it is actually possible to download?

So if the images are downloadable it's logical to think that this is caused by the lack of a tiledef, something which is created by script, maybe it would be worth adding an echo to the tiledef system to ensure the functions are being called, sometimes simple things do stop working for unexplainable reasons.

Already been done and worked just fine. It calls the tilesets to be loaded in designated levels. It was working just fine before the server crash and has not worked since. Something is not going to work then suddenly stop working, even tho when tested it does what it was scripted to do.

Send a message via AIM to Skyld
In a clientside script in onCreated, try adding:
PHP Code:
fileupdate("tilesetname.png");
This tells the client to check with the server that it has the most recent version of that file, and if not, to download it.

Thanks for the reply Skyld. I'll try that once my IP is fixed on the debug server and let you know the results here.

Just post your script already so it can be ruled out.

Try this:

PHP Code:
//#CLIENTSIDE
function onCreated() {

addtiledef("npulse_outside_tiles.png""npulse_"1);

addtiledef("npulse_outside_tiles.png""stafflevel_"1);

addtiledef("npulse_inside_tileset.png""npulse_inside_"1);

addtiledef in a timeout loop is just bad... Also try deleting the weapon script and re-adding it as a different name while you're at it.

Not just bad but completely un-necessary in this case due to the fact the addtiledef functions contains a levelstart parameter as you've shown.

Probably also worth mentioning that it is an impossibility for both of these conditions to be true.

Why would you EVER want to even try using addtiledef in a timeout, like, seriously? Best thing to do is initialize all tiledefs for the entire server in onCreated and leave it at that.
