Anybody out there?

Hey guys... wow!! These forums are dead! The whole game population is. I played this game 9 years ago before G2k1 came out (I loved G2K1) and there was usually around a thousand atleast people playing!!

In my opinion there is no server on graal right now that compares to G2K1... it's sad that it's gone.

I recently started playing again because a friend and I were thinking about old MMOs and remembered this game and the level/npc editing in this game is amazing. Fun Stuff...

So we're planning on making our own playerworld. I've been messing around with the level editor a bit but there's alot of really BASIC stuff I forget how to do. Not that I was ever good at npc editing.. in any case I need to learn how to script well and I need help.

If any of you out there with some knowledge are so kind to offer me advice, links, resources for learning I'd appreciate it.

Also if anyone is willing to chat with me to allow me to ask you some stupid questions...

You can learn a lot about different functions and so on by searching previous threads, as well as working with some of the examples in the Code Gallery.

If you can't find the help you need by searching feel free to make a thread but don't abuse the privilege to the point where you're just posting and waiting for someone to finally post an entire system copy-paste solution.

Right off the bat I'm thrown off by GS2. I don't remember GS2 in the old game.

In the "old game" it was GS1.
GS2 is just an improvised and improved version of it.

Those tutorials could teach a monkey, you just have to be devoted to it. I'm sure you could always Forum PM a scripter if you need help with your scripts.

Old GScript had the quality of being relatively simple to get started with, but it blurred way too many features of scripting and was not at all extensible. GScript2 is more like a typical general purpose scripting language, which might make it look more daunting, but it is very flexible and powerful in comparison.

But how do I go about learning GS2 script?

GS2 only works online? I can only practice it when I have the ability to test it live on a server? That's something I don't get.

Should I learn GS1 first? Do I even bother learning it at all? Do they fit together?

Lol.. I hate asking unbearably stupid questions. But I'm not very good at learning so I have no choice.

GS2 is compiled by the NPC-Server and transferred to the client unlike GS1 which was able to just run on the client.

There's not much point in learning GS1 since you'll be advised to use GS2 instead.

Hmm.. I see. Well is there alot I can learn and practice without having access to the NPC server?

Is there no scripts that work both in offline and online conditions anymore?

Or should I rent a playerworld right away to have the access to the tools I need?

pm tig i think to get access to testbed, a server that is ran by scripters. its just a place to meet other scripters and to test your scripts.

Forum PM Tigairius, I believe he is in charge of the Testbed server. The Testbed server is used for aspiring scripters. Basically you're given all the rights you need on a live server to test whatever you wish.

Common GS1 scripts typically work but those should/most likely will be replaced with proper class scripts and placed in levels with minimal code like so:
