New Player Advice

So I just started playing era. I'm pretty much still a greenhorn, but i got the gist of things and started to mine grind. The only problem i see is, that i can make about 1.6k-2k cash an hour through mining. But most of the guns i would like to have, pbp, smgpk, etc. Are just so madly expensive, i'm losing my motivation to continue.

Most of the advice i received was just buy a cheap gun and stick with it until the system changes. but i can't help but wonder how people get these guns in the first place, especially those with 0 mining level. Any advice how i can make it in this economy that is difficult accumulate the money needed for the market prices?

Also, im saving for an m4 if anyone wants to sell me one. (have 31k at the time i made this post.)

getting cash some years ago wasnt so hard because people dupped dupped and dupped, pretty much every one with high guns were dupper, want an advice? leave while you can, era is pretty boring and wont change until they fix the economy and reset everything. they wont do it because high staffs got the best stuffs on the server(bow,2 millions hats,10 millions guns,etc.) and pretty much because every business is run by inactive people OR staff.

What are you talking about?

I don't think any of the staff could be considered rich. I could be forgetting people, but I don't think any of my PRs or the Dev staff are rich. Also, most businesses are run by PLAYERS. Such as DD, DH, AM, GP, EH, etc. The only one that could be considered owned by a player is PPA since i'm a council there, but like I just said I'm council member not a owner.

Also, we aren't against a reset. However, there is no point of resetting when there is things that need to be fixed and projects needed to be done before hand. Continuously resetting is not a long term fix, and a long term fix is exactly what we need.

Spoke with the co-owner of gunpoint just recently. In a nutshell, he explained once your mining level hits 25, you begin to mine rocks at a very fast pace and money starts to come in easily.

I'm a pro basement dweller

so i think 2 weeks of grinding in the mines should get me where i want to be.

I find era fun, a lot of people tell me its dying or that its no longer as fun as it used to be, but i find its a great server nonetheless. Now i just have to join a gang to experience the raiding stuff too.

the only fear i have are resets. should i worry about any future server resets?

no worries at all. a reset would require the staff to actually get their **** together. we all know the success on era as a staff team is just a myth.

Was it always so difficult to get a job at one of the player run gun stores? I just asked the owner of ammo mart if i could have a job, and i get a response i would expect from a 10 yr old with tourettes.

Do not get a job for a business. Unless things have changed in the past few months, i highly suggest doing other things. Ex: Pick flowers, or sell lead/iron to businesses. Most businesses will actually buy lead from you for more than they pay their workers per lead.

Also my advice, DON't TRUST ANYONE. Also, IF ITS TO GOOD TO BE TRUE IT IS. Follow those rules, and you'll be fine.

Oh yeah, don't be afraid to PM a PR for any questions, they got some cool PR's!

Nah, it matter, because a looong time ago you could actually make money, but 2008 it's pretty impossible to get rich without having influences on ETAs stocking items for you

Oh and what makes you guys think that you can achieve a long term fix? How are you different from all the other people that failed?

Hmm. Its a pretty common idea, but mine is to add a few daily quests. Nothing amazing, Kill 20 zombies for 500$ would be good. Also a drop system where killing npcs would have some worth, since you could get vendorable items and (very rare chance) weapons.

So if you added all the currently discontinued items to a rare loot drop table. The values might go down. I'm pretty sure anyone that knows how to use a keyboard can kill a zombie.

It matters alot that you started in 2008. You've only seen Era "as-is", you don't know what a "good" era looks like, let alone have an idea of how to work toward one.
Thats just 1 of the many reasons as to why your started a year ago matters.

I was talking about what my one year of playing has to do with having items.

Also, to Sam, it's not hard to get money. I worked my butt off in Ammo Mart and went all the way to Co-Owner and got a lot of money through things like that.

Anyways squirt also got rich from being on gp/pr tag everytime he was on. An ec ever 7 hours adds up eventually.

If just Graal were adverisised, and Era could start with selling the guns that arent in shops, like before. A Glock 17 aint worth alot IN Real Life ( I know it's a game... ) And it aint rare neither... We could have some reality you know.

My advice to all of you is, stop worrying about achieving items. Use what you have, goto the spar arena and put it to use. Rather than seeking temporary things, go and try to improve your skill, something that is infinite and can't be reset, removed, nerfed, etc etc.

After that, everything on Era will be easy for you.. I promise.

I agree with the notion of limiting the variety in guns; the days where AK's were top dog, and most people used Uzis because they couldn't afford the ammo were golden.

However, Sales does not agree with me in this aspect

That is a naive notion. Variety in guns is a huge asset to gameplay, expecially on a game that is already on its edge for new content, you don't need to be removing things... expecially things that revolve around the core of the game, like Guns. More guns the merrier, regardless of how you look at it.
