So you're saying that people who swear are automatically idiots? I can't figure out how it could be "preserved" when the meaning itself still excists, it doesn't matter how I type it, does it?

I was explaining that people who use profanities will just avoid the filter, and you say that the filter will not be used for "idiots", stating my previous explanation of the group of people who DO use profanaties, so no, it was not "completely incorrect".

If you were to ignore it, why not ignore the REAL swearing word? Meaning there wouldn't be any difference.

Anyway.. If they agreed to it and broke that, and its a rule and break that, and is stopped with an Anti-filer and they try and get around/break that then they are ''Idiotic'' and shouldn't be playing graal as they are spoiling it for the rest of us. And for about the 16th time, the real words are offensive the ones with stars are not! Which is why i'd ignore stars!

Why would that make them idiots? Because they don't abide to the swear filter? I might be way off there, but that's how I understand it.

Even if you were correct, and the profanity swear filter was all-but-useless, it would still probably block out atleast one word in one message, in which case it was worth adding.

Basically same anti-swearing idea came up more than a year ago, but was not used.

I don't think any censorship things will go into graal, and I hope they don't too.

Uhm.. Basically, they're just doing what they did before the filter, but since their swears won't show up, they'll just change the words around. Like at the Counter - Strike chat. Almost no people there types the actual swearing word after seeing how it changes (since it doesn't just turn out in * marks, it changes the whole word, but anyway).

I reported a guy named Ice to Eye of the Beholder on Babylon, well he got jailed for swearing serveral times without listening on the warnings.
The first thing that happends is that i get kicked from the framily (for jailing a family member).
The second things that happends is that Ice tells (hes freind)
kishara to unjail him.
He was jailed for 1 minute and the guy was supposed to be jailed for 3 days.
The system needs to be changed. People can be unjailed becuse they have freinds that are "staff".

Later when i tried to explain to the Leader in the family why i jailed him he says " he is a family member and even if he was a hacker you arent supposed to report him", and he threatend me by saying he was going to hack my acount if i reported him.

Eh?

So wait, you want people to pay for a game in which they can be called racist remarks?

You want people to pay for a game that allows people to diss their mothers?

It's disgusting.

This comparison may be too unequal, but, you are paying for the internet, aren't you?

It is full of racist, and insulting things. And on it, you can be insulted numerous ways.

Then get ''Net Nanny'' or similar programs, edit your Internet Options. If you don't want to see that material. But the difference is we COULD stop it here, we dont have to have it on Graal, we have the chance to stop it, so we may as well do it. While you may not have power over a website with a million hits a day showing disturbing material. You do have the power and choice to maybe make a difference here. So I don't see why you cant just do that.

The point is that Graal honestly isn't very different from any other online game out there in terms of maturity of its playerbase.

You pay for those games. Graal isn't a game, it's a service. Big difference. You host your own servers with Half Life and Unreal Tournament. Graal hosts the servers, and you pay to use them. You don't pay for Graal itself, you pay to access Graal's servers.

He indicated Graal as a game we are paying for, not a service. So, Kamuii listed other games paid for, which insults occur in, and are not filtered out.

Thats because language isn't much of a problem, and they will be succesful with or without it. Graal isnt like PSO etc... With 100,000's of players, It has to keep what it has and aim to get new ones in. But swearing may put them off joining/repaying.

Graal doesn't even have 10,000 players, much less 100,000.

I'd set the count around 1,000. 1,500, tops.

Which is why PSO and Others dont really have to care too much about there player attitudes. As its famous enough of a game that a few people dont care much what others think of them, After all the creators/programers are happy with there 16million players. But graal nneds to try and keep them all.

I don't think the swearing issue is the main reason for people leaving, frankly , it's just not that important, atleast if you compare it with other issues (account stealing, hacking, changes [generally directed towards classic] etc.).

i tend to believe people are leaving because the game becomes really boring and repetitive after a month...

graal lacks a stable line of interesting content, basically.

Well, look at it this way...

Now, there are only two reasons to NOT want this to be implemented, either it's because you use profanity, in which case you are breaking the rules, therefore, this is not a good argument.

The other reason that you may not want this put in, is actually a somewhat good reason, which is that it can block words which only have the sequence of letters which would be profanity as an alone word in them. (I.e. Assume, Roo***p). However, if this is well coded, then this is also solved, therefore, this is only a mediocre agrument.

So...

A profanity filter should be added.

Since I didn't set a date for the changes, it was really a plain waste to actually comment about a date (last month) I was meaning changes in general, no matter how old they where. The old changes in graal (races for once) made people leave (all my friends did, don't have a clue why, but mainly, because they "thaught it was ***".)
