if stefan ever intended the game to be "professional", they'd never had let players make thier own servers in the first place, and you'd never know the client had a level editor. think about it, if EVERYONE has the ability to have a server (asuming everyone is spoiled by thier parents or has a job to buy the server), then how is there any quality control?
2k1 was great before it was given to some normal user and it was turned into a crapy playerworld. THEY EVEN RUINED THE ZALTIC LABS...
2k2 IS great because not any fool can work there.
though I've only presented one side of it, my point is the game is only truely at its best when its either fully professional, or not at all professional.
see, "professional" kinda implys that the people working on it are seriouse for giving you a good time so you'll throw money at them.
"unprofessional" would probably be some coder having a fun time by making an easy to program for game engine, and alowing everyone to use it to the fullest as a creative output for whatever enjoyment they find from it, even at the expence of others.
now, this "semi-proffesional" that you say graal should be, and I say graal alas is at, would be some kind of unhappy medium from someone doing something for the sake of them getting money, but they're letting you do the work for your own enjoyment.
to simplify the statement, wich is pretty true, in graal you work on a server... you even BUY the server... for the sake of your enjoyment... but wait, people have to pay someone else to fully enjoy your server...
makes for some "fun" selections of staff and players, if you ask me.
so with that little thought that a "something" is only truely enjoyable with its fully profesional, or truely unproffessional, I lead us to the real point of my little rant:
graal should either go compleatly professional, or go back to what it was in the good old days. Granted, I'm not saying "THE OLD DAYS WHERE THE ONLY WAY!!!" only with a lot worse spelling and a few numbers, I'm saying at its state it isn't up to its full potential. or find some intresting happy medium...
...or even pretend there isn't a problem and continue on its merry way in its current state?
oh, and since I didn't realy arive to a solid point, just think of this as food for thought.
