Question Playerworlds and Playerworlds.

Right. I'd really like to know one thing.
Since you now all do like this Buy A Playerworld system, can playerworlds still be submitted the old way? If they can- how?

all playerworlds will have to pay to stay up, even the ones online now...

as far as I know, the onyl way to get up is to pay $59 for 6 months, or $99 for a year, then pass a PWA inspection to go public

Why was playerworld judging involved in the tryout if the PWA doesn't do that anymore?

You mean I have to pay for a server, then get it reviewed just to go public?

Yeah, that's the basic idea. What's wrong with the logic behind this? You pay for your own development server, and if it's good enough, you can have everyone play it. Otherwise, only gold/vip players will be able to play it, and it will remain in the third tab.

I'm afraid that I don't see the login. People have to pay to make Graal money. I think playerworld managers should be paid, not have to pay...doesn't make much sense, in my little head.

How are private/UC/bad PW's making graal money? 0.o'

Remember, public worlds get a free month of hosting for every month they are public... meaning, if they are really good, and stay public, then they only have to pay the 1 time... but if the PW becomes bad, then they get moved to the third tab, and their months begin to tick away again.

Doesn;t it make sence that the PWs which do NOT make graal money have to pay, and the public ones do not have to?

but we all know what he ment

and I think it's become a common term to use now (third tab) since that's how it was talked about before....

though, with your idea Spark, there will actually be a third tab... but different than the one talked about before, which will make things a little confusing
:P
(is your idea ever going to happen?)

Um, if you think those dev servers are making much money other than from the people paying for them, you are sorely mistaken.

I think he ment, people have to pay for servers, which will bring GO profit instead of themselves. Basically, owners pay money so GO can make money.

the 3 you listed, and (I was told) a kind of lesser public tab..
like, PWs which do NOT get a free month hosting, and only VIP/Gold can play them, BUT they have passed some simple test, to be placed on the list, so people can just click the name, and connect...

(something like that anyways)

Gold/Public/Private..the fourth Stefan may be wanting to keep as a surprise, he said in a few weeks, and this was about two weeks ago..But, in Graal, a few weeks could mean a few months..

Graalonline hosting another server would be an expense rather than a profit. Bandwidth, CPU time, and Stefan's time are all money.

But aside from the money spent to rent the server, it doesn't make Graal any money. His statement indicated that it did. I corrected him. I misread nothing.

A playerworld such as Oasis or Shifting Ages will attract more players, dont you think? Basically, they work hard to make a server to play that will attract and bring in more income for GO.

they only have to pay while they are developing, and NOT making GO any money...

So if a server goes public now they dont have to pay? Then howcome all the current public playerworlds will have to pay after their free period is over?

ok, this is how it works...

for every month a PW is public, they get one FREE month to ADD to their paid months...

therefor, all PWs should have to pay one time, then as long as they stay public, they will never have to pay again...

they have to pay the first time, because if they get sent into the 'third tab' they need to have some paid time to work from right away...

anyways, they just have to pay for the 6 month period once, and then just stay public, and never have to pay again
:P
*edit* but PWs like shifting ages, and oasis will not have to pay more, as long as they have time left from when they first paid... just when they go public, they start getting free months to add to their paid time

Its quality-centric so don't think a high playercount will keep you there As I understand the PWA will be the judge on quality and thus will determine those that remain available to everyone. Those that don't meet those expectations will have to survive on thier money until they can fullfil them and will only be available to paying users. Does this make better sense? This entire system, in my opinion, is to give PW developers an incentive to do better than the cliched norm which would be making a server like Classic (not saying Classic is bad) and adding in personal modifications. It basically forces developers to push thier limits to create quality content to stay on top. It will be very rewarding for those that do so because they'll have a 'free' ride for that time being.

So it kind of goes without saying that ~75%-85% of the registered and paid servers will wind up dropping off after a while simply because all that is being done is pumping money into a blackhole.

Quality is just 1 part of a whole list they will judge a PW on =X

some may drop out, but that is up to the renter.. no-one will force a private world to shut down (well, as long as they follow the rules). True, some may close after they realize they can not make a good PW as easily as they thought, or the renter will quit graal.. but there will always be people to take their place.

Regardless, that is the major aspect of the judgement. It may be one part, but it is most likely the largest chunk, therefor, a lot rides on that factor alone. Yes, having a quality server that doesn't generate a lot of interest is a bad thing. That would somewhat of an exception

Thats basically what I meant. In the end, money is really the deciding factor

from what I have heard, quality will be in the list, just like RC security, player count, scripts, and everything else...
though, realize that quality is a pretty general statment...
I'm sure only 'quality' PWs will stay up... but everyone's definition of 'quality' might be a little different

That definition will have to match the PWA's then. And when I say quality, I'm not meaning graphics. I'm meaning in general i.e. content. As long as the content provided by the playerworld lives upto the PWA standards its ok. Of course, going above and beyond should be the key here. Probably the biggest thing pertaining to quality is playerworld cohesion. If the playerworld is made up of a smattering of things that don't go well together obviously that's not quality.

A rule that applies to any kind of game: Just because it looks good doesn't mean its plays the same way.
