Graal Messenger & The Graal Network

Umm ok where to start?

I quit my job (stupid yes but oh well) because i have had a lack in time to manage my projects and my girlfriend was on the verge of breaking up with me. Im gonna get a part-time job in a few weeks but right now im going to notch up production on my graal projects which have been lacking the promised attention (Yes i admitting slacking) Furthermore my Playerworld project will come second as im not gonna jump from project to project like some people. Anyways lets cut to the chase ill give you the run down.

Graal Messenger:
I recently as of 10 minutes ago registered GraalMessenger.com so in about 24 Hours it will be mine. "Graal Messenger" is in no way endorse by CyberJouerers at this time. The word "Graal" is currently not trademarked in any legal fashion (I did the research) nor has it been for 10+ years at which time it was owned by a book company in sweden. Anyways i filed a fictitious name registration (not a copyright or trademark) just a piece of paper that says im DBA as Graal Messenger under Nova Group. Nova Group is a Non-Profit Software Development group i created and it is fully registered both with the federal gov and state but aswell with the Better Business Bureau (Kudos). As soon as GraalMessenger.com is propragated to the global nameservers i will putup a site something of a project site for the time being with screenshots, plan layouts, source code and more i will be sharing all source code under a modified GPL. But all official clients thus guarantee to be Virus, Trojan Free will have a special unreproduceable graphic and several other authentic items ill be imbedding for you security. Graal Messenger will in no fashion require you to enter you "Graal Online" username and password or any other personal information instead there is a seperate database which you must open a account on. the good thing about being open source even if someone else ie : Cyber Jouerers decides to compile the code and use it for graal they can choose to have their server client communicate with all other server clients and share encrypted (PGP) database information making a more or less P2P Network between all the servers and databases. This may be already a bit confusing im not trying to confuse anyone. I will be talking with angel i want her to help with some development of the network and help administrate once were up. I will be developing 3 different clients at this time i wont be doing all of the work myself i have friends from GAIM and just IRL friends i know who will be contributing and will be credited for their work. The first client will be coded in C and will be ported to Windows, Linux & MacOX if wanted developers can port it to other platforms. Second ill be finishing the VB version but upgrading it to .NET so that the large mass of Windows Users can have a version that will tie in with current and future windows technologies and api's. The third will be a Java version which is mainly being worked on by my friend Joe who likes to sit in his closet all day coding in Java and listening to Paul Oakenfold mixes.

The Graal Network:
I have also registered some domains for this project which will not be started until Graal Messenger starts rolling out. The Graal Network will offer live chat, forums, polls, newsletters, photo albums, calendars, mail and much more all integrated into one logon called a TGN Account which can also be used to log into Graal Messenger down the road. I will also be talking to Angel about working on some of the mapped concepts i have and getting some criticism from her (i know she has some :P ) and will be speaking with other "Above Average" graal developers who code in languages other then GScript ;P

If you have any questions or comments please e-mail them to:
[email protected] and ill get back to you as soon as possible i will be at the OracleWorld, SunNetwork and ToorCon Conventions this month so ill be slightly busy but 90% online also feel free to criticize and comment my ideas here. I just ask you follow the community rules and keep this post productive and brainstorming.

Ok I do have some questions which will help me get my game plan sorted.

What kind of Graal Smiley's would you like to see?

What kind of emotions would you like built-in?

Should GIM have direct connect, video and voice capability?

Should GIM offer creation of chatrooms like AIM or just be person to person?

Would you like to be able to opt-in to recieving graal news via GIM or Mobile phone?

Would you like Buddy Icons capabilities?

Would you like interoperability between AIM, MSN & ICQ?

What platforms do you use and would you like GIM to run on?

You have any ideas that I he mastermind may not have thought of yet?

Note: TGN will have a special graal account which it will connect to all playerworlds and using special parameters you can send messages to GIM Users and GIM Users can message Graal users and if AIM,MSN, ICQ capabilities are added you will be able to communicate globally.

1)Love, wink, excited, grrr, AFK, BRB, idea, grin
2)Make an Irish emotion, like an Irish flag with a smiley face. Make one for some other countries too I guess, to be fair.
3)Direct connect and voice, maybe video later on but not yet.
4)Chat rooms would rock
5)Nah, the way graals updates work (many updates at once, spread out) don't make it worth it
6)Definately
7)ICQ is the bane of my living, but MSN and AIM would be nice
8)It should run on 98, 98 SE, ME, 2000, XP, and Linux if possible
9)Customizable skins would be nice. It'd be REALLY nice to make a system so that you could save conversations but have it so that it is determinable if they are authentic or not.

Try to make the interface a lot like AIM because they have a huge user base and most people are quite comfortable using it. If you offer relatively the same way of handling and make it compatible with AIM users im sure people won't mind switching over.

-What kind of Graal Smiley's would you like to see?
Fung Si Yang with eyes. Also,do the other emoticons you don't see much like -_- , o_o, but on Graal faces!

-What kind of emotions would you like built-in?
The usual (the ones AIM has) except the extras like the U.S. dollar signed eyes...

-Should GIM have direct connect, video and voice capability?
Yes, all that for sharing data easily (like AIM's image connect).

-Should GIM offer creation of chatrooms like AIM or just be person to person?
Make it like MSN's IMing (where you can invite someone to the conversation)

-Would you like to be able to opt-in to recieving graal news via GIM or Mobile phone?
GIM Only

-Would you like Buddy Icons capabilities?
Yes!

-Would you like interoperability between AIM, MSN & ICQ?
Yes! And Yahoo messanger...and IRC. The more effort you put into this, the more you'll get out of it.

-What platforms do you use and would you like GIM to run on?
Windows 98 SE and greater

-You have any ideas that I the mastermind may not have thought of yet?
Yes! (Get a job with Graal, and make it so this is a VIP member-only program [or make it so you need gold to use it...but with vip and gold, you get more features of the program], and be loved for giving us a reason to keep subscribing to Graal...)

I vote second on skins.... Also if there must be chat room create i belive there should be moderator features for every manager such as kick/ban. Or the options for the manager to select who shall be a moderator. Cause not everyone would want to be in 1 chatroom and talking about 54 other servers. The chat room feature should have a list of all the playerworlds And of course nova would be Global GIM Staff...Anyways i don't really belive this would come out anytime soon soo i'll stop my post here. ktnxbye

Im fairly stubbornly against there being sysadmins on the GIM network that aren't coders etc. There doesn't need to be a moderation force for an IM program, just include the block feature and problems will fade out on their own. I can only see moderators becoming corrupt and only being in it for the power.

The only reason it would be beneficial for globals to be staff on it...well, it wouldn't be beneficial at all since it is not a part of Cyberjouers at all.

no chat rooms, for the love of god NO. one time on AIM someone invited me into one, and everyone was there, from graal, it was like a nightmare I would have never thought of, I said "wtf is this sh!t" and left. and when people add me to their convo in MSN, I block them, usually. So I beg of you, NO NO NO!!!

Invisible Mode, So you appear offline to people but you can see if they're online.

An option where only your friends on your buddy list can see you.

Setup similar to AIM if its something totally odd using I probably wont use it. But I sure would like to.

Let me check if I gotthis right:

Skins will be custom?

Also everyone would appriciate it if File Sharing like in AIm was implemented.

And last but not least, how secure will this program be?

It will have a security of 137.

What modifications will be done to the GPL?

I'm curious also. I thought if the GPL was modified, then it is no longer the GPL.

GPL is a liscense openly used by many open source projects but over the years many organizations have made their own GPL liscenses. Infact when most org's say its GPL its not the orignal written GPL.

Various Distributed Computing Programs have been trying to crack different encryption schemes for years. Almost all RSA Labs schemes have been cracked although PGP still stands to be the most impossible to crack. Dont get me wrong with a supercomputer like the one's in Japan and Washington layer after layer of encryption of the PGP technology could be broken down but they would still hit more layers but eventually would crack it. In 2001 the NSA had a white paper stating it found PGP to be one of the most secure encryption protocols available and that a supercomputer could take unknown amounts of crunching time to crack pgp.

I figure it would take Distributed.net's several thousand users and companies which run their software atleast 3 years to crack pgp but i dont think they could even do it within the next 10-20 years.

Here is the blueprint of the security engine:
CryptoIM.C uses the finest in cryptography, including an AES symmetric Rijndael cipher with not a 128, but a 256 bit symmetric key, public-key cryptography with 2048-4096 bit asymmetric keys, and SHA-256 message digest function plus has a backlayering of a 1024 bit pgp final security phase.

We have chosen to go with Gerry E. Williams OpenCrypt standard which he created will attending MIT he graduated in 1999 and since was offered a position as a security analyst at MIT's EECS Department. OpenCrypt was used as a standard in the development of CryptoIM a secure protocol leased by the creators of Kremlin Crypt.

So the following happens in all transactions:

Raw Data Input By User ==> Raw Data Encrypted With Private Keys Imbedded Into Server ==> Secure Data Transmitted To Server or Client is then unencrypted by public key imbedded into client and server and plain text or data is then filtered further.
