What kind of battle would you enjoy?

Hmm well, it is about time I asked everyone what type of battle they would want. Please read this before you post, to get a discription of what I have in mind.

1) Hack/Slash - To sum it up, just like GK. Real time hacking and slashing, nothing new and original but always fun.

2) Active Time hack/slash - similiar as above except a little more turn based, basicly you will be inactive dependant on your speed, once you are charged you can do a action, interface same as hack/slash except a bar would show when you are able to act again.

3) Turn Based - Rather then hack/slash, people can move a certain number of squares when in battle. Depending on the speed and the terrain, you can move a certain ammount, then you can perform one action. The distance you can move would be displayed with transparent squares, and the AI would have the same rescrictions.

4) Active Time Turn Based - Rather then waiting your turn, a speed stat will determine when you can act again...same as above besides how the turns are determined.

5) Other - Any other suggestions. Just post here what you think.

This is simply to see what you guys would want to see, and some ideas I had. None of it may be used, some of it may be used, I am not entirely sure, and will leave it up to the ideas team. Well, post your thoughts on what you would like to see.

I like the Active Time hack/slash way. This is becaues I'm a big fan of Final Fantasy games.

Active Time Turn Based sounds like it would be fun. (FFT, wee)

altough, it could cause the battles to be a bit slower.

Keep in mind none of these would take you to a new screen - so it isn't much like FF. Though, the movement on the last 2 are like FFT, that is about the only similiarity hehe.

I want to keep it on the same screen so others can view battles and take part in them, but I can still have superb graphics and graphical effects .

I sort of liked Kingdom Heart's battle system. It was hack/slash but you could do spells on-the-fly easily.

If you're going to do turn-based, I suggest something along the lines of Chrono Trigger, I believe that would be perfect for Graal.

That is for me to figure out, and you to find out.

Well, I doubt I will end up doing turn based, was simply a option. But yes, if I did do turn based it would be similiar to chrono trigger, because I see the most multiplayer potential in that system.

You could have a better active system if you had a party system like GK as well. That way you could have parties fighting.

A party system in SA will be much more...permanent. It may also unleash some more abilities based on those you party with...stength in numbers must also be true to this game. Numbers will be needed to overcome the large bosses, and other obstacles - but I plan on seeing how popular the world is before unleashing things which require alot of players .

You can still add Chrono Trigger elements into an active based system..Like the double and triple team attacks for example. I loved the one with Chrono and the robot where they spun around to the funkly lights and it seemed they were disco dancing

Hehe, as I said power in numbers. I doubt I will limit the abilities in numbers to just a trio, but it all depends on how the initial stable player count is. Only then can I set the priorities of what I will do - low player count = more work on the more individual stuff, high player count = more work on multiplayer stuff. By multiplayer, I mean truely multiplayer, and by individual stuff, I mean not massively multiplayer, a little more "local". Oh well, those who do not get me will soon enough . I do hope I can get a high player count initially, but there is a possibility that will not happen. Hope for the best, plan for the worst...that is how you achieve success, regardless what happens.

Crono and Robo's Rocket Roll? I think that's the name - I'd have to check, but that means starting my emulator or my Super Nintendo.

Rocket Roll could be it. Not 100% sure. Been about 3 years since I played.

It may be a better idea to sorta release SA with a good mixture of indiviual and multi-player stuff, seeing as though you will never know how release will be. I assume with will be taken in quite well, but still, you should never give up on the individual player stuff aswell, because a lot of times people don't want to be bothered by others. I usually feel that way myself sometimes, since some people are quite, not sharp at times..

There will be lots of both initially - but I am talking making certain required things depending on playercount. And adding massive monsters requiring like 10 people to kill, and so on. I understand what you are saying, and I have already taken that into consideration .

Ahh ok when I first saw the pole my eye started twitching. But after reading more of your plans it seems unique enough so as not to affect me.

I made a thread similar to this one didn't even realize this one was here lolz. But I personaly would like to see a turn based system with a (Time Limit) on choices of course. But with a terrain and the ability to move around say instead of attacking the goblin you run 3-5 spaces depending on your speed. And if you reached the outside of the arena you would be able to flee the battlefield. Something similar to CT but where you too could move around the battle field to some extent.

LOL...I made sure to say it would not go to a new screen or anything, and made sure not to make it anything similiar to...well you should know.
