3D terrain or normal desert tiles.

Vote. These tiles would not be the default desert tiles, just new ones. Which would you rather see?

He is asking whether his server should use 3D terrain or a new custom-made 2D-based desert tileset.

I don't like the 3D terrain.. makes fighting a pain

Depends on the angle your PW is aiming for.

I like 2D better because it seems the terrain can stretch out the gfx and make them ugly. Also because its easier to pk with 2d.

Yes a PW with 3d terrain could have some bad points to it. But there isn't one already so it could turn out to be a big hit.

Well, not going for a UN style server. I'm going to post 2 different screenshots in the near future to get everyones opinions.

i think it would be damn nifty to have an all desert PW with small spots of grasslands, kind of like a reverse playerworld XD

Some none desert. Like Oasis's and stuff. However, there will be a mountain range so dont forget about that.

It's just me and Trevor, so were really busy. We have a plan already. I might draw up a storyline tonight. Not to sure... super busy.

3D terrain, for sure. A desert must have hills, and 3d terrain can do that well. Heh, for my desert area I am using 3d terrain anyway, so that is how I feel on it.

Use it for the hills but use flat gmaps for towns etc

What I would like to see, I've posted this idea before but it would be alot of work. Use the 3d terrain for the overworld. But when ever you have a building or terrain. Make that part flat and use tiled buildings instead of graphic buildings. If done correctly I think it could have a very nice effect.

Hmm... I like. <3
I will have to ask Trevor how to make it not part of the terrain (O_O)

Do you mean like if it was a hut on a mountain it levels off flat then the tile houses, then the mountain can continue behind again? If so that would be good.

It would require editing the gmap to make that area all the same hieght value. (making the numbers all match in the house area) Warcaptain did it once for a single level. It looked pretty cool even though he was using the 2d Tileset.

Yes I dont mean like all houses would be set for 0 it would be like you're going up a hill. The building would be partway up the hill. At a specified level height. For a nice effect if the level maker was good and could think 3d. He would add stilts on the one side to make it look like the house went out and then had stilts supporting it etc..

Here I found the screen shot. (took some searching.) Obviously on a massive playerworld it would be more advanced than this. On mountains, beaches, Woods, and what not. But it gives you an idea with the tile set building and then 3d grass. (Obviously you would want all custom graphics and what not.)
