Great FAIR Starting Class Suggestion

Make it so that when you pick your class you automatically get the max stats possible with them rather than you roll for hours to get something good and still suck compared to other players. Newbies don't know what half the stats do/mean so this would really help...Adding exclusive skills would be nice and so would making Warriors have an advantages over Barbarians cause as it is right now they're just ALOT weaker versians to them. Giving them like -8 more ac to start or something would be nice.....

Heck no. Warriors can get 13 or more on the last 4 stats and so that makes them even with Barbarians who can't read at the beginning unless they are lucky and start with a scroll of literacy AND manage to learn it.

Warriors are supposed to be the allrounder class, but they don't get more ac than a barbarian, for example, who have much greater wc, str, dex, con, etc. Sure, barbs lose a bit in the cha and int fields, but most barbs don't give a damn 'bout int, and charm can always be raised by cha + rings (and before you say that you can raise ac with ring, don't. Max for cha is 30, but ac is infinite, so it's easier by an infinite amount, to reach max cha than max ac.)

I know that your suggestion was stupid too. If you take a second to think about warriors and barbarians, you will see that Warriors end out on top. People only like barbarians because they see everyone else as one. They also choose barbarians because they can get 20 str dex con. It's good but if you are a newbie you can't really do well with that because you will be complaining that you always fail stuff, etc. (Which I've seen various people do). Warriors don't need -8 more AC, just get better armor or something and use Enchant Armor's on it. I failed alchemy 8 times before I learned it and other various scrolls >4 times so that's pretty fair if you ask me. If you are a warrior you probably wouldn't fail that many times.

A different solution.

When you roll, each stat has a brief description of how it affects the player beneath it.

You can choose what your stats will be, but each class has certain limitations. For example, if you want to have the max Charme as a Priest, you'd have to suffer a loss in Strength or Constitution or something to that effect. Or if you want to be Stronger, you would suffer a loss in Intelligence. See, that's all okay, because you can fix that later with rings and potions. It would balance things greatly.

You pick your class, you pick your skills you pick your spells (if magi), you pick your own weapons. Everything has a max amount you can pick, and all the stuff has the same protection, just different graphics. As you get more skilled (higher level) more ac or armour is added and to weapons, more damage and wc is added. No more of the IWD crap and stuff. And no more of the people choosing the "best weapon" because it has more damage.

i agree totally;and also at the choosing stats screen numbers under the bars would be good, so you can see how many points you have in the stats so you dont have to judge just by looking.

It's basically useless, you will choose stats, and later get stat potions to raise all stats to max, thus, having classes is entirely pointless.

Hum. The way GK is set up now, yeah it's useless.

I personally enjoy MMORPGS that limit certain classes. Like Priests get mainly healing and support spells, Wizards get mainly attack spells, etc

I hate it when everyone can eventually do everything.

Right now, classes don't do more than give you certain start conditions (cauldron, spells, prayers, skills...). They don't have a permanent effect... but without classes, you'd have to learn literacy/praying/magic/alchemy, get yourself a staff/cauldron etc... doesn't sound that good to me...

or you could give everyone wizardry, praying, stealing, concealment, woodlore, literacy, 3 spells, 2 prayers, a random amulet, a talisman, a cauldron, a pen, a wand, a sack, a wizard hat, and another random skill scroll
