PK Solution, proposed

Here's my thought:

We know that some Kingdoms, well Samurai, has players PK on tag, other players on tag.

Instead of 'talking' to them, taking up the leaders time, I suggest all kingdoms consider the punishment for this behavior should be 3-7 days forced in peaceful mode, if they are caught off peaceful in that time they get expelled from the kingdom, period.

That means, no worrying who PKed who first when after the 10th argument and brawl, just simply drag the people apart and send them off to ring their respective kingdom bells.

The feuding can't last too long if the best they can do is dig bomies at each other.

For people who keep pking badly, etc, removal or stiffer penalties should still be considered, but I think the 'forced peaceful' would help augment the solution to this problem.

Actually, an offending kingdom tries to 'talk' to their people, as no one wants a war over something stupid like pkers.

People already get disciplined for PKing on tag, I am suggesting a means to make that more effective

Every kingdom should have an Ambassador, he is the one to talk to the king or other diplomats from the offending kingdom.

You never know their past history, unless the person is Rax or Vahn.

I don't know what to say...PKing has always been part of the game, and it would be very difficult to take it out. While I do not personally PK, some people do, and again, it woul dbe difficult to take out?

PKing and RPing CAN co-exist, so long as the PKers don't violate the basic rule of "You don't PK someone who is RPing."

...or if you PK someone who is RPing, expect consequences to occur that make sense RP-wise, like being kicked out of the kingdom you where in while PKing.

Anyone think forced-peaceful could help at all with this?

I think that a Staff system CAN exist on this server, just make it RP-like.
FAQs = Council of the Elders
Police = Royal Guard
Events Team = Philanthropist
Staff = Overlord

For a staff system to exist like that, it should be enforcible only in certain kingdoms, for instance, different kingdoms could have different rules of which their police could enforce...within their jurisdiction. There could also be a council of Elders and such for the main island of which people of different kingdoms could be elected (yes, it should be an elected position, at least for the leadership), but again, they only have jurisdiction over that island.

With the Kingdom based systems, I mean more than ranks and building and such. I mean a jail, etc too.

You forget...

The problem is not that the rules don't exist.

The problem is that the leaders *cough*SAMURAI*cough* are deeming it unnecessary to enforce these rules.

And when they don't enforce the rules, what the heck are the rest of us supposed to do?

Are we supposed to just sit and take it? No - violation of the rules will be met with consequences.

Are we supposed to go to an RP war over PKing? Hell no. I will not stoop to Samurai's level.

In short, the leadership of the offending kingdom needs to either wake up or be changed.

I totally agree with you Tseng.

I may be mistaken, but I figure part of Samurai's problem is that

1) They feel insecure enough that they are unwilling to expel strong players, who thus get to do whatever they want, as they want them there if a war breaks out.

2) They get the whole long story from people caught PKing, from 'he started it' or 'he said he pwnz you so I killed him' or 'he wasn't on tag', 'I forgot I was on tag' or 'I went off tag for that 3 seconds to kill him' etc etc etc.

My thought is if people are forced to enter peaceful mode,

1) They are still members and will still be around in a kingdom war to defend their kingdom, so it is preferrable to enforce for Samurai.

2) You need a stronger case to expel someone than you need to force them to use peaceful mode for 3-7 days (first offense).

3) Once in peaceful mode, there is no ambiguity, if you kill someone *anyone* you have to be by the game mechanics have entered battlemode while prohibited and are fit for expulsion. You cannot claim self-defense because you don't need self-defense in peaceful mode. It is easy to check up on if someone is in peaceful mode as ordered, a suprise inspection with cause critial wounds should do the trick, and if they are complying no harm done.

I agree Samurai needs to change its ways, that really that is the cause of the problem. And wars over PKing are more than stupid.

This problem is not new, and I don't think the probation-peaceful thing will solve it, but I think it may help diffuse some of the tension and give Samurai some tools that don't require them to expel people right away who act badly.

I hope I am not belaboring the idea, but I'd like to discuss if it is viable or flawed, and if it can be integrated as part of the larger solution, which is yet to manifest it self.

The most RPish way to see it, PKing on an RP tag is murder. If you're in a war, that's fine. But if you just PK random person #564, you're killing an innocent person. Killing in self defence, is, well, killing in self-defence.

Dudette, good sir
And hopefully that will end soon - isn't Samurai getting a new leader, or something? Maybe I'm just messed up.

I totally agree, partially due to the fact that I was the target of 6 assassination attempts on me while both parties were no tag, I killed the person who attacked me, one was in Forest (before the reign of Chris) another was some samurai, and the rest were either losers who I forgot, or the same person again.
