welsh did infact invent the longbow. heres an extract:

During the Middle Ages, the Welsh Longbow was one of the most powerful and devastating weapons. When King Edward I discovered the longbow in a battle he fought against the Welsh, he quickly established an archer corps that would help decide the victor of battles for over 200 years! At Crecy, Poitiers and Agincourt, the longbow brought success to severely outnumbered English troops.
