I'll say for the time being, a katana. With this I can move freely to avoid your attacks, or use the length of the blade to redirect them.

Dream on! If I dual-wielded a moss covered twig, I'd have a 3/16 weapon in both hands! And if I stacked haste from the spell AND the FBSS, I'd be doing around 6 damage every 1 second!

I've done some research, but only in specified sections. I don't really play it anymore, so most of the info from my brain has kinda just seeped away.

Me too. Uh, that's only two words, isn't it? Okay then, me too, but I let my account die a while ago. No time, no money. I'm too busy being dedicated to Graal.

Do what I do: Ask your parents to buy the game, then tell them you will pay for the subscription. You get one month free, so if you don't like it, you can cancel without paying any money. The downside is that you can't return it.

Although I regret missing all this great conversation I can't escape the impression that a few of you don't have as much experience with the weapons you describe as you suggest.

What I don't like is that the generic "katana" is highly overappreciated. While as effective a weapon as any other, it was by no means superior, and not half as fast in use as usually shown, plus, it's lack of momentum is a defficiency,

The true magic is the tempering. Oh, those Japanese were amazing!

yeah, I hate how people think that the katana is soo amazing, the main reason is that in Anime they always have katanas, thats why they love em soo much... as for me, if youve ever seen the First Highlander, you'd of realized that The Kurgan had the sword has is the awesomest sword ever if you like big, strong swords

Well, in my humble opinion...

The best weapon for fighting an un-armoured opponent is a smallsword with a gauche, and the best weapon for fighting an armoured opponent is either a kusarigama, or one of those 16th century German war hammers!

Katanas are nice but people should recognize the diversity in japanese swords beyond just katanas! I, for example, always dug the No-Tachi, but I've fallen out of favour with it in favour of the paired Tanto and Tachi!

I'd prefer a gun to a sword

Well, yeah, a gun will be superior in either case.

But I find them impersonal.

I'm not afraid of my ignorance. I knew about the Nodachi but it seems a bit too big for my liking and likewise the Wakizashi is too small. So I defaulted to the only other Japanese sword I know: the katana. Still, the main part of my original reply was centred around unarmed martial arts anyway, and I'm not so ignorant in that area.

That's cool, I'll admit I know almost nothing abot unarmed martial arts. < But, next to the katana, the wakizashi and nodachi are the most well known japanese swords! I was referring to the No-Tachi. <:P

Oh, my answer to the question of what weapon would combine best with unarmed fighting would be a little getup from the 20th century that I believe was called the "apache pistol." A tiny combination of a knuckle duster, a shank, and a revolver!

My apologies, I assumed that, because of the similarity in names, they were the same thing. I thought that perhaps Nodachi was the western adapted name.

What an interesting idea. Still, it'd be an iffy one to use against someone with, say, a sword. I was looking more for traditional weapons.

I personally favor the scimitar to any other sword. Though not so good for parrying it probably would rule for a quick paced battle/scirmish.

Well, the apache pistol certainly isn't a traditional weapon.
I'd point, then, to a katar. Because it is parallel with the hand it can be used quite similarly to unarmed combat!

for unarmed combat, I would carry a large bowie knife or just my big sword and a spiked shield

Why do people argue and complain about which weapons are better. None of you have any use for them. None of you will ever use them for violence. If someone has a gun are you going to pull out a katana and run at him yelling "KAAA MEE HAA MEE HAAA".

Weapons are romantic, and even though they're violent and disgusting in use, they're beautiful and chivalrous in principle.

I view weapons as a power source, for skillful and powerful people to focus their abilities into something that looks artful and sometimes violent, but I view swordfights mostly as a power struggle

If you didn't get a chance to post your favorite before, do so now. If you did before, say again what your favorite is, and why!

I really do love weapons!
