Lightbulb Image Editing

*Note this is not Project shifter*

okay I am using projects user name because I dont have my own...

Now one good scripting idea to add to graal is a rotate image command.
This can be useful in many ways.
Also you should be able to define the characters direction by their degrees. For example:
3.14 would be the player facing up
1.64 would be right6.14 would be down
and 4.64 would be left.
This makes the shooting command easier for reasons like a made a bomb NPC which when you fire you set the angle and the shoot it. It is hard to do this because the shoot commands angles work differently. Although this is only to my opinion.
Also it may be a good thing to define light effects in a level.
This may be good to make shadows, if you could combine this with the rotate command idea. You an define how many lights are in the level, you can then count how many shadows there are. After that, defining how far the player is from one can determine how dark the transparency of the shadow is, finally using rotate and angles make the shadow oppose the light. These to my opinion can help graal out some

LOL. You make an image w/ several angles in it. Because you can't take an image an turn it w/o it knowing what the other sides look like. Then you set which part of the img you want to use. like showimgpart or something.

Nee.

Just rotate 4 ways, because that can be done with SIMPLE math.

And for stuff like heads, hands, etc. it's nice to be able to rotate. So you can have a player sleeping by rotating all their sprites to the right and rearranging accordingly...

Sure, you could rotate the walking ganis completely and have Reverse Gravity rooms.

It would be a nice feature for graalshop.. so that like Tyhm said, you could rotate the player to make them look like they are sleeping.. or dead, or whatever..

Using a rotate command for regular images though would be stupid.. number one, things shouldn't be flipped upside down because the game is at a 3/4th view, and there is no way on earth you would see the front door of a house if it was facing up.

Plus most images would look stupid when you rotate them, especially at a 45 degree angle or something. It's better to just rotate them in an image program and clean them up yourself, then just make all the images into a template or something.

Doors would look nice rotated 90...same for wall decoration things. But other things, like beds, pots, chests, signs...just don't work the same.

Stefan said that diagonal rotation would not be implemented in Graal for the simeple fact that some players would not be able to see them because they would need a High Performance Vidio Card or something like that...

Bah. That's DIAGONAL rotation, I'm just talking Flip and Invert and Rotate 90. You don't need a 3d card to do that kinda stuff, MS Paint has been able to do it with 16 color images since its inception.

It's a double-edged sword though.. See sure it would allow for nice effects, maybe save people some time.. but then you would have to people thinking it's okay to make one graphic and then use the scripting to rotate it into other sides or something.. and not give it any different shading or lighting so it looks really awkward.

I'm all for this rotation/flipping thing. It would save me a bit of time with some stuff that doesn't look any different flipped. For example, some plantlife and things that you have as npcs in your level, could have some variation if you flipped them around horizontally. (depending on if it isn't mirrored already)

Particularly for heads, swords, shields, bodies...I am soo not wanting to rotate every head 90 degrees just so I can make a laying-down-but-not-dead gani

new idea

I think another good idea(has nothing to do with images) is to have a new edit. A playerspeed command. It can help people with barely any scripting skills make speed boots or such, or can just simply save time. Since it would edit the graal programming it self, there would be no need to script onwall detection. Its not that i cant script it, done it many of times, its just it would save many people time.
