I swear it should be illegal to...

.....send people PMs asking:

1. anything about hats (if the player's selling them or what hats the player has, etc.)

2. if the player can support thier guild

These 2 should be classified as harassment. It is flat out annoying to see that yellow PM icon and find out it's some idiot asking you about your hats or if you can support thier guild. Shortly before posting this message I had gotten 2 of these
annoying PMs in a span of about 10-20 minutes.

I know some ppl may be selling hats and would tell a player who PMed him asking this what they are selling, but I don't sell hats.
I just have one I like that matches my clothes and I'm not selling it. Yet I seem to be a target for PMs asking about hats. Most ppl who read earlier posts from me should know I have no intention of selling hats. If anyone wants to know who's selling hats, 4 words: go to the market.

About ppl who PM saying "can you support my guild" This should not only get the player jailed, but the guild he was looking to get ppl to support should be denied tags. The logic behind this is easy. Guilds should be unofficial for a while to get people to join, then get their members to support the guild when it seeks official status and guild tags.
This is why staff made the guild system the way it is, so they know guilds have members. Sadly too many people abuse this now. This is why staff should not only jail someone who's trying to get ppl to support guilds throgh PMs but also refuse to give their guild its tags, because their guild is a newbie guild with no members and a guy trying to get tags without recruiting any members.

I've gotten tons of these PMs. It's starting to get under my skin big time. Which is why recently I started responding to them with nasty replies. I'm getting fed up with the number of ppl who send me PMs like this, something needs to be done about these idiots and their harassment.

I completely agree that massing for guild supporters ruins the point. And I also think that people should at least use their brains before they PM me about hats, since I have a total of 0 gralat and a short online time on the account I use.

There was a guy that was annoying me both yesterday and today about a Green Shogun that I don't have, and he wanted to buy it from me.

It seems clear to me that RCs shouldn't be PMed with this stuff. If I'm online as a player then yeah, maybe, but as an RC I have no hats, no gralats, no instruments. I'm just a scripter with his RC.

They should at least send a Mass PM to everyone to find out who is and who isn't without annoying anyone.

Well people who use PMs to ask ppl about this should first know that the person they're gonna ask sells hats or supports guilds.

I do neither, and I still get this junk. I'm dead sick of it, these ppl need to lay off the PMs. Guilds should not need ppl to "support" them, that's what members are for. (in other words, recruit members to support your guild, have them wear an unofficial tag, then get your members to support your guild when it tries to become official.

Mass message is such a great system that is abused so badly. For the 10% of the populus that has something actually decent to say in mass PM's, we should not have to suffer and get ignored (ignore mass messages) for the 90% idiots who use it for hats and guilds

Classic guilds won't be able to become official, most players on classic didn't pay, so members can't support. Also, guilds usually recruite only after the guild becomes official, not many people would join un-official guilds.
There is no other choice but asking people.

Maybe people on Classic who would want guilds would have to have 3 p2p supporters, and then 10 normal supporters?

Often those PMs (and I also get them alot) are people using those goddamn "mass PM" programs (now I'm not talking blue-bubble mass messages.. but mass PMs)... someone recently released one of these programs and was constantly using it to advertise it on Graal Classic and other servers. I'm guessing it's another program that will send your password to some hacker when you use it, but alot of people use it.

I get PMs over and over saying things like "Will ANYONE support my guild?" (ANYONE is capitalized because if they were sending it to one person why would they say "ANYONE"?)

*shrug* It's annoying as hell but that's what the ignore button is for.

to help ppl, it wouldent be good if they ignored ppl, then they

Whenever you log on Graal, do you receive more than 10 PMs during the first 20 seconds you start playing?

Do you receive more than 15 IMs from different people each with their own annoying questions on AIM everyday?

Try being a Game Coordinator on Graal Classic and because GCs are the only ones that can give out the GC Tickets for the GC prizes plus there are 200+ people online at all times usualy... I end up with at least 50 Pms before I finish logging in! It's crazy!

What's funny is the ETs on 2k1 often don't get ENOUGH people... where as on Classic when I ask for accounts for a spar tourny... I often have to reconnect to clear my list of PMs I get so many! LOL

The FAQs on classic have it 10x worse though... I feel sorry for them.

The original mass pm program had a password stealer, I recall. But I don't know how I found out. [scratch head]

There is no other choice but asking people.
I don't go on classic but I get what you're saying. It is still the same thing. Not having members w/ p2p accounts is no excuse to harass people who have p2p and get them to support your guild.
I go on UnholyNation sometimes and see mass messages like
"can anyone with a p2p account support (name of guild here) ?".
I can imagine that it's worse on classic. Staff there should crack down on people who ask p2p players to support guilds, that should be a jailable offense. If I knew how much non-p2p's were gonna go after my account I may have had second thoughts on upgrading. Bottom line: if your members can't support your guild for tags, get members that can, and lay off the PMs asking for supporters, you are only making an idiot of yourself.

If they need to ask for support, their guild does NOT qualify for tags and it should NOT recieve tags. As I said before, if a guild leader cannot get tags without asking for support, he has no business trying to get tags in the first place.
