savelog2

I was thinking maybe adding the command savelog2:

savelog2 textfilename,<what to be saved in log>;

savelog is nice, but it saves in the nc-log and sometimes can be hard to find little logs in there.

savelog <text to be saved in nc-log.txt

Example:

NPC Code:

savelog -hat: #v(hat) at [#v(dropx),#v(dropy)] in #L from #a;

Server Lag.. Do u know the time until the server give u a message from a sign and all? it will be bigger..
There is one more thing to comunicate with the server, so there will be 1k people posting logs all the time..

Pretty good idea, but everybody else already had it, I guess.

The NPC Server isn't laggy unless the scripts make it laggy, lag time was non existance when I tested savelog on providence

It's not laggy at all, adding an extra line that saves it to a different file wont do anything, you may not know this but the NPC Server is contantly opening txt files to record the player count, the players online with there positions, the server online time, and a few other things. It does all this without lag

It wouldn't be used for saving chat conversations. It would be mostly used for NPC actions. Like there is a hat log on Graal2001 and uses savelog.

Yap but its the same thing if I use:
setstring server.log[i], #a used #w - #s(day)..........
but i dont wanna see alot of "logs" in my Pw, so Stefan could make a " log.flag"
The sameway that the server flags are saved in a txt file, log.flag woud be too...

so? ........ more lag..

Not really, the NPC Server runs so much faster than the normal free server

There would be no lag at all. Seeing as you think there will be, please elaborate. Its not constantly saving logs of anything, just certain little things. I believe it is mostly used for item logs.

Erm no it wouldn't savelog is a server side command, so would be done by NPCs already running on the server meaning it would take up no bandwidth what so ever only a small part of the server's proccessor (about 0.0001 seconds to write to a txt file) which im pretty sure Unixmad's servers could handle. If savelog2 was added the time to read a sign would not change at all.

Its not what he was saying.. he said that it should be:

savelog -hat: #v(hat) at [#v(dropx),#v(dropy)] in #L from #a;
You can say what it will save...
So there is a connecting Server-player...
