(this was all written by Kai. Not me, Kai. get it?)
Okay amigos, here's your chance to help me with a little dilemma. For those of you who don't visit the scripting forum, Uncle Kaimetsu recently made himself a little 3D engine thingy and made it into the framework of a minigame. The actual thing is attached to this post so when you're done reading this go stare at it in awe or something. Anyway, Uncle Kaimetsu has got this far but now he is stuck, and he needs YOUR help!
The premise is simple. I have a pseudo-engine but not a game to implement. Originally it would have been 3D Asteroids, but then I decided against that. I have another plan kinda lined up as well, but I'd quite like to get some more brains on the scene before I commit myself to anything. So here's what I want: Design me the outline for a basic space game to fit the thing I've given you. It should be fun, playable etc but ideally not
too complicated. I'm not remaking Elite here...
The game should be playable within a closed area of space - notice how the stars loop back around to give the impression of an infinite starscape - and for bonus points you should think of an accompanying name. And no multiplayer! Graal isn't the best platform on which to build such games, so don't even think about it.
Best entry gets made into a minigame for G2K1 or whatever. The actual placement is up to Stefan, WHO SHOULD ALSO GIVE FEEDBACK ON THIS. Credit will be given, possibly in a little section similar to the ingame readme. Reply with your gems of genius either here or to
[email protected]. Now go!
