when Classic would get in the hundreds and 200s sometimes i couldn't even log on lag was so bad ...

The market should be remade using in-game laptop eGraal-Bay if we ever get 200+. It would lag too much if you put 150 people in a few levels.
And Stefan would have to send out NPC clones to fake people away from following him when he is online so we don't have 60% of the server following him.

Yes there are plans to make things decentral
Currently the Graal2001 server is not taking
a lot of CPU time, we can support more players
without slowing things down. I have seen that the
computer with unholy nation is a little bit slow
because of the playerworld npcservers, we will
use more of our computers to run gservers.

Paying is good because we can buy new hardware
and better bandwidth and we can spend more
time on the game itself than on getting money
elsewhere. Sometimes the question is
'what will people do when they need to pay to play',
but on the other hand we can also ask
'what will people do when Graal is closed'
and what would they prefer. There will be a player
limit on free servers, where you login as ghost when
the player limit has reached, and you need to wait
some time till you are activated. It's probably
not the nicest thing, but somehow it must be
clear that the players must pay if they like the game and
cannot say 'classic is enough i don't need graal2001
so i don't pay' Alternatives would be to limit the
stuff like limit swordpower to 1, only allow heads 1-30 or
so etc. Bringing the player limit & ghost mode to free
servers might also make it possible to allow some
p2p features on those servers. Actually we spend a
lot of time and work on the free servers, making them
faster and protecting them better. If you compare the
speed of classic from July or so with the speed now then
you should see a big speed up.

Free servers still hold way more of Graal's players.
If you limited them and didn't fix them up then you would lose lots of players who may 1 day pay. Plus you wouldn't get new players looking for a fun new game to play.
Some limits like 200 player limits and waiting lines(if you login as a ghost because the server is full you are added into the waiting line to login as a player) on free servers would be a good thing.

Yes We are only doing the ghost mode thing,
so in case there is some event you can still watch it
but must wait some minutes till you can play
(it is showing how many ghosts are before you in the
queue)

Don't add too much restrtictions tho, but I completely understand you, I love Graal, a lot of people do as well and I don't like the thought of Graal getting shut down.

Maybe you could enable lights for free servers, but you can only see them if you are playing on a pay to play account?

(RC accounts should be able to see them as well)

I will probably upgrade both my accounts when they run out of time.

I have other ideas as well; maybe you could host the webpage for the servers. (Example: npulse.graalonline.com) It allows them to read topstats from the servers so they can show them on the page, and local guild management as well.

Maybe you could set max AP for players with a free account to 99 as well. (RC accounts an exception)

I mean the servers get web space where they can run php scripts and make their topstats scripts and the like. Thats would be awesome.

Well.. I think it really depends on the playerworld/server. I'm running on a cable modem, and sometimes I find things to be pretty damned lagged. This hasn't really been an issue with Newmain, but some of the other P2P playerworlds can get pretty bogged down at times.

I like the idea of letting servers have their own webspace on the graalonline website: providence.graalonline.com

The ghost thing is so-so in my opinion. Anything that will get more people to uprade, I'm all for. I'd rather not be around when Graal shuts down, and hopefully it won't shut down for a long time (I'd have to find another message board!)

Its good.

Look as far as the people go saying they do not want any new players, and those who hate "newbies" they are just as you were 6 months ago...lol...or longer depending on the player. So support your newbies! Also another thing is i want everyone in the universe to upgrade their accounts, Stefan has done a lot of work for us, he deserves a reward. Think of the expenses! Woah thats a lot of money, hes gotta get it back somewhere. I think any thing that tempts people to join the p2p people is good. I personally am staff on Andor, and Doomsday. The more players the less crappy playerworlds, and the more free playerworlds too...I think that Graalians need to look at their priorities and be thankful for what they have. I personally thank Stefan because I have gottan so much enjoyment out of Graal since version 1.x i cannot even begin to express any thanks.

Er, I don't like the limitation for free playerworlds if it is at like 100 or something. It should be limited to 160 for classic, and playerworlds should be like 85-120.

I use it 24 hours a day and 7 days a week to stalk people even though I do not ever play Graal anymore.
(Not counting the occasional 5 minutes I come online to shock people into thinking that I still play)

Will the player limit on free servers effect p2p-accounts.

I can only assume the player limit on free servers will be based on the number of un-upgraded accounts on the server.
