Disable GUI Stuff

I looked through them in the wiki and didn't see anything. Is there a way to make the Textedit shut off? Like, with certain restrictions on a variable you just can't type in it period? Also with Popup, can u do the same to where even if you click on it it wont pop down the selections?

Like control.active = false (control is your textedit or what-have-you)?
