Mining Suggestion

Privatized TNT rooms?

Maybe a random level generator upon entry of the room to avoid thieves? It would sure make it much easier for newer players like myself who are trying to work in the mines in peace.

Really? Gah. I can handle 1 rock thief decently, but when there's a little clan of 2-3 of them, it gets a little ridiculous. Definitely discouraging to new players.

Ah yes rock theft, I receive many complaints concerning this issue. I don't really like the idea of "personal" mines because of well, macroing of course, I can however make the rocks fall in random locations if I were to make personal mines.

For now, all I can think of to prevent rock theft is to not allow players to drill other players rocks if it's still theirs. Feel free to suggest anything that may work.

I'd love that, as would any player who is mining without the use of illegal tools. That would definitely solve the problem for me at least.

And for others who want to mine alongside a friend or something, I'd keep a few of the public TNT rooms as well.

dargaro didnt allow that for some reason and i think it may have had to do with the fact that a player could use a tnt and then go idle. No one else could use that room now because the rocks aren't minable by others. I could see someone using a TNT in every room so no one could mine

Give rocks a 10 minute lifetime, simple.
Level 0 Mining without a Workers potion shouldn't take 10 minutes to finish a TNT cave at the most extreme.

Also, I believe Alf was going to randomize how the rocks dropped and stuff (like he said) when he makes the mining GUI and stuff later on. But there's still a few major things to do before that.

Is it possible to create a random level generator, where everyone is designated to their own separate level upon entry? Meaning that everyone on the whole server could technically mine at the same time "in theory". And with Alfonso's idea of randomizing the rock pattern, there wouldn't really be an issue in privatizing the rooms.

Yes, it is possible, we're using one with the practice rooms in the Comic Club (If it's still open o.o).
Not saying it'd be an issue but I really don't see a point in doing so when we can just fix the current rooms for players. Although, I do kind of like the idea of private rooms... Hrmm

Since when were mines available in houses? O.o
and also, I never restored him. He's told you before, more than once I believe, Nich restored his items.

Comic Club isn't actually generating levels, it just has a bunch of levels which have been pre-generated. Use this if you're looking to make private rooms. It should be about five lines of code if you use that to handle the dirty stuff (there's an old version of it already on Era which was controlling the half-done starting guide, but you'll want to use the new one unless you like memory leaks).

We could all just grow up, and stop stealing each other's rocks..

Why don't you just make a mine where you have 20 or so rock rooms, and in front of each, you have some sort of turnstile. The first player to enter the room becomes the room owner, and is the only non-staff player who can enter.

Furthermore, you could have additional security in place, such as
a timer that kicks people who idle for too long, to prevent monopolozing the rooms.
Perhaps a one-hour time limit that kicks you out when it's up, with a 5 or so minute cooldown, again to prevent monopolozing the rooms.

I have never, in all my time playing era, seen more than 10 people mining at once if you dont include businesses, so 20 rooms would accomodate for any fluctuations..

I wouldn't want the rooms to be only one person because mining is boring and it's a lot easier when you get a friend with a mining level of like 28 to help you

Could have a party system so you can still mine with your friends :0 or... even have it run off guilds although im not sure how guilds are handled due my frustration previously playing era lol.
