New Guns, Era's Current State

Before you read:
These are my opinions, if you don't like them then personally PM me about it and we can discuss. You don't need to take this off topic and start the flamethrowers. If you want to post, post your thoughts... don't judge mine.

Well Era added three new guns... but is this more of a setback than an update?

Honestly, you guys have been trying for years? to balance the weapons and fix the economy... wouldn't you put more thought into randomly throwing out more and more guns?

If you're actually working on what you say (fixing Era) then why are you [theoretically] making it harder for yourselves?

Right now as I see it Era is a playground server, no better than Graal Ghetto or Utopia. The head staff are rarer to find than a shiney pokemon, and the others are running loose not fixing anything, but instead digging the server deeper into the hole.

Something needs to change, and I think this leads back to the PWA/Graal Staff giving them just as much blame for not giving a fair shot at trying to recover the server and actually give us a manager that can bring himself to log-in the game. You guys should be able to notice after 2 months when he hasn't accumulated an hour of online time that he isn't going to do anything and try again... not put it off and 'believe' he will change.

This mythical reset should be carved into stone and made as real as possible... it is now easily comprehendable that a reset is the only way to recover the server. But that alone won't do anything... you need to solve all the other problems as well.

I'm personally tired of reading '____ will happen' yet never seeing it, if anything is going to happen do it... if not maybe we should drop Era and all go to Facebook/IPhone.

fal isn't necessarily better than tg
tg is a unique item, fal isnt
it was like when everyone said that ove was better than mp5 for a couple of days then they realised it isnt..now everyone is saying acr is better than mp5 but that's also not true (i own both guns so zero bias)

These new guns are only available to about 25% of the server when it comes to pricing. Not only is that a problem but the PPSH was added into stores 70k+ more sellback then it was when you sold it on street. So i other words PPSH used to be less then 100k on street, now cheapest its going to be is 175k?!?! It is still practically the same as Sten but worth more then 100% than sten.

I don't understand why they released more guns on par with the mp5. Guns with .05 freeze are becoming more common than guns with .11

pretty dumb imo

I don't disagree with you, Rogue, but I do think that expanding the pawn system is a way to avoid a reset by slowly taking money out of the economy. Theoretically, this could lead to prices being lower and a greater distribution of wealth on Era, and that's what everyone complains about, yeah?

You used an extremely key word there...

As PoJo posted somewhere else I was just reading 'Theoretically pigs can evolve to the point where they can achieve flight' which makes your point extremely weak...

The general rule of thumb for Graal is 'If it looks good on paper, it probably won't work'.

Mixing things around with random price values and hoping things will even themselves out is not how you fix the problem. At this point they need to take actions and preparations to manually fix the problem themselves. The whole 'pawn shop' idea could theoretically cause as many [or more] problems as it solves. (As we are seeing with the 'PPSH41 Crisis' in a parallel thread)
c what i did thar?
It's been put off and put off for so long I don't think avoidance is an option anymore. Especially when they keep worsening the problem (first part of the thread title).

I agree, but this is just one way that they're attempting to avoid a reset (or so I would think). Personally, I have no problem with a reset, most of the players who have anything on Era haven't worked to get it anyway, and it would screw over anyone who sells items for real currency, which makes me happy just to think about.

How many people have worked hard to become rich? Very few. If there were a reset, and they worked as hard as they do now, they would be the rewarded by becoming the richest players on the server. As compared to now, where even if you work very hard, you can't become nearly as wealthy as someone like you. You have millions of dollars worth of items, yet you have a mining level less than 10, and I bet you haven't spent more than 5 hours digging shells. It's not a personal attack, it's just an example of how unfairly the wealth is distributed.

Well, EC items is a totally different issue, but buying and selling guns wouldn't make nearly as much money if there were a pawn system from the beginning of the reset. Obviously, prices would have to be adjusted periodically after a reset to keep up with inflation.

Most players with a mining level above 30 (Cecil, Reece, Danny, Suki, Catbert, John, etc?) ALREADY quit BECAUSE they worked so hard to realize they were just as poor as everyone else because the economy is so broken. I've personally talked to all of them, and that is at least one of the contributing reasons.

why does era even need an economy? just make it strictly pking and I bet you more people will start playing than quitting. I talk to players about it on the iPhone all the time and they always say that PC Era guns are too expensive and they just quit after being killed a few times.

If you're just starting era without any graal experience or friends on the server it's almost impossible to get anywhere.

And if there's a reset no body would quit, but there will always be economy problems no matter what, that's why it should be turned more into the iPhone server (in the sense that ALL guns are easy to obtain.)

I agree with donark, why have a controlled economy? Release every gun in a shop for an LOW price and problem solved. I think more people would play era for pking if everyone had the same guns. Keep the weight system on there so that way noone can carry over 100 guns or so, but keep it just for pking not merchanting and yadayada, just keep it for pking with all the guns released, even though it wont happen its a GOOD idea.

You're contradicting yourself.
If you could make it again so easily after a reset, why would you quit then?

I agree that short-term it is a great idea. However, long-term you need to have weapons of a variety of prices. Look at games such as Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, etc, what they have in common is stuff you need to work towards. Better weapons, a higher rank (prestige 15), and what not. While Era can go about finding new ways of keeping players attention (possibly have a ranking system on Era?), items is a good way to keep users interested.

HOWEVER, what Era does wrong is that, all your hard work doesn't pay off. If I work hard on COD, i can get a high rank and unlock some new stuff. On Era though, thats not true. Weapons are limited, so you may have to wait months to find a player with a gun, or a friend of yours might just get a spawned/cst weapon after just starting the other day.

In my opinion, the Gun admin needs to sit down and actually figure out a pricing system, and then to keep the gun within that range, make sure their is constant supply of them, and that they are in the pawnshop.

With prices fixed, it will also be better for new players. The hardest thing on Era is figuring out how much a gun is worth (IMO). Especially when you new, people just try to scam you. Unfortunately this would make merching very difficult, but this is where player jobs make their comeback. Open more player shops, add more npc jobs (farming, fishing, etc) and players can make money the way it was intended.

I'd kill to work for guns, combines needed skill towards better guns. One could mine for a year and make a million dollars but suck at pking and resorts to lame technics with their shiny new pbp or, nowadays, ACR.

Buff cheap guns like ak47, uzi, xm8, mk23, mp40, deagle so they are just as fast as 500k guns....you can argue that would ruin everything but new players could fine good guns and it would be more about pking than finding a super good gun to use

to bad this is a game, and we don't all take this game as a 'society' like you.

The game isn't about making money, it's about pking. So stop trying to defend yourself just because you have the best guns on the game. It's obviously biased.

Ya, you say stop crying and work, sorry we don't all start off by CST'ing or USDing. If you had nothing I doubt you would be saying dont reset, but would be edging it on. Just cause you have a bunch of guns and stuff doesn't make you awesomly cool, but more of a douche.

I can't stress enough about how correct this is.

Era has needed a reset for the longest time and any future plans of improvement that do not include a reset need to be aborted and forgotten about.
I understand that at the moment era has a stable player count but most of the players have gotten their riches through unfair advantages (real cash) and the economy is so awful compared to how it use to be. Although I guess the corruption does sort of fit in with the games theme and setting..

Reset
Work on balancing every gun and making them affordable or just stick with Uzis, handguns, shotties and AK's
then slowly start releasing fun for all content and updates
