Era's First Party Tournament

Era will be hosting a Party Tournament for anyone interested!

Just go to http://partytournament.questionpro.com and you can sign up! The event will be held on Sunday (November 14).

Other Info:

Party Tournament:

Amount of players per party: 5
Min that must attend: 3

Rules:
-All players of each party will be on at least 5 minutes prior to the event.
-Swearing or harassing an opposing team results in immediate disqualification
-Once a party sends in their roster, the members mentioned are the ONLY players allowed to play for that team. A party has up to the day before the first battle of the tournament to alter their roster.
-The tournament will begin on Sunday (November 14) at 4PM EST and will be completed by 6PM EST
-Ping must be below 360

Approved Weapons:
No over the wall weapons

Game Mode:
The game mode for this tournament will be team death match.

Reward:
1st place: 5 EC for each member
2nd place: 3 EC for each member
3rd place: 1 EC for each member

By participating in the tournament, you agree that we have the right to change any rules at any point during the game.

On Friday night all teams must entered (though you can change your members up to Saturday) The link below will be updated as the brackets are filled out and will be up-to-date showing who won their round.

It is the first party event, something special(er) then the standard 5EC for- at least- the Grand Prize Winners. Be it at least a large bundle of Skull Tokens and restock the store.
Or something big-er (worth more [in worth-ness sense]) or in just plain price. 5 EC can get one's self bubble gum or the less desirable "Death Cup" five times, or Be 3 quarters away from owning a flute, or five/three-hundredths away from owning a Bow/Flamer/Flak. (Depending on your standpoint [varies] of the amount of EC you have.)

They're taking time that could be spent elsewhere (yea right...) to prepare and try to hold this series of events. It is to promote the use of parties, team based competition, and above all - server activity. They even give you guys a prize for trying it out. How are you going to complain that they are actually doing something? I was going to say they shouldn't even include prizes, but a set of team statues at the party point house or something along those lines, but then no one would even show up.

The event is supposed to be for fun and to take a new approach to coping with the diminishing player count by trying something rarely done (it has been done before, the thread title is a lie). Not a freaking item giveaway.

If the effort required is greater than the reward then motivation to participate dwindles.

A majority of Graalians just aren't all that interested in winning for the sake of winning anymore and prefer to be instantly gratified via OP items or something similar.

I dont think you guys understand this event was set up by me the PRA, not server admin or dev admin. I can't authorize any OP items, skull tokens, or any of that stuff. I am just trying to do something fun for players. If they don't want to compete, then don't. As long as there are parties interested, I will do my best to keep some interest around parties.

Statues for the winners would be cool, but again, I do not have levels folder. Basically i have rights to host events and give EC.

I have a question: Is it allowed to add more than five people to the roster? So that if some people don't show up you can find replacements quickly.

No its just the five people on your roster. Only three need to show up though. The reason i didn't want to have replacements is because then you have to deal with what party they might be in and such. Rule may change for next tournament, but i would like to see how it goes this time around first.

If it turns out anything like I'd imagine it'll take 1-2 hours to start (people complaining, waiting for people, making substitutions, setting up the events, afkers, loaning weapons, getting ammo, etc.) just like when gang events are hosted. And compared to the 3-5 minutes you have to spend shooting at people.

Not much effort required on behalf of the players, and you'll probably know who will win before the tournament even starts.

or we could skip all that and just host regular events? :event Tag Team Arena -1, :select teams, :start. See that was easy. Nice idea though, it's always fun to try something new.

Now there's like no one to try and beat. I beat just about every player I could find on the Gmap with an uzi, 1.08 speed, and 100 hp. So with no one to try and beat, Era pk = sucks.

Yes it IS like a gang event.
The 5 best players from both gangs will form a Party to participate. That's the same as just picking the best 5 players from your gang. There just using different tags. So actually, yah, it's EXACTLY the same. Besides the fact there will be a couple scrubs putting together parties.

In the end, it'll just come out to be 2 gangs with there best members in a party.

Next time i think the teams should be reduced to 3 v 3. It allows for more parties and lesser chance of uneven teams. Otherwise i think the tournament went great. Alot of close games.

My intent with starting bi-monthly tournaments was that each tournament would be a new mode (party KOTH, CTF, etc.)

Maybe gang events can be done on the weekends there aren't party events? might be kinda cool to have something going on every weekend.

ZALINTO TEAM DEATHMATCH WAR LOG:

I want to thank all my family members for helping me win this event, and Reece (owner of Gun Point) for sponsoring my team when I had no money to buy us ammo. It was pretty fun, even though unfortunately Zeross's team had to be disbanded.

Getting the team together was a pain in the ass considering I was busy not playing Era at all and most of my family members were inactive. I had to use Era's nifty mail system to tell them about the tournament. Danny never logged on so Flex invited Tre to my family as a replacement -- his first impression was pretty bad, but he turned out to be pretty solid. I also got Karl to join but he never logged on again either.

FIRST ROUND: 4 Zalinto vs. 5 Dark Dynasty
The first image was removed due to content issues.
This was the hardest, considering they were geared with the best guns and grenades. Boy, you should've seen Rams run and use gum to heal :P
Seth was MVP of this round but I managed to do very good.

SECOND ROUND: 4 Zalinto vs. 3 Uberschutze

Seth is MVP again here. Flex disconnected during the middle of the round.

FINAL ROUND: 4 Zalinto vs 5 Boyz

Boyz managed to put up a pretty good fight but we managed to win -- and wow! Seth was beasting through the whole goddamn thing with a score of 33 kills and 15 deaths. I did pretty bad; though, to be honest, a lot of people ran from me and many kills were stolen. Flex's lend time ran out so he was stuck with an uzi, HAWWWWWW. I was very pleased by Tre's good performance here.

So yeah, I and the other members had a swell time. But I wonder, can these kind of events be held up consistently?
