Cliffing advice

I'm not sure this looks right, and mainly just wondering if there's a "better" way to achieve the same thing. Mainly concerned about the top part of the selected area.

I think you're using the wrong tiles for those transitions, let me see if I can reproduce.

Okay this was done really quick, I might have made a few tile errors. This is not my preferred style in cliffing, but I am sticking with your style for this example.

Browse for Crono's cliffs, his work is amazing when it comes to that.

I'm on a very limited connection, both speed and time wise, for another week or so. If someone could provide me with thread links I'd appreciate it.

I'm too lazy to actually make an example today but maybe you can get the gist of my style from this screenshot (ignore beach, terrible way to go about that stuff).

EDIT: actually that is more of a example of proper cliffing, it doesn't really tell you what I do in situations where I have layers.

I'm looking to do a rather big mountain with several peaks, and I'm pretty unsure about how to make it look like an actual mountain. Thought about going back to LttP for examples, but that hasn't really helped me much.
