Ruins' graphics development process

Okay so today I'm making a thread to show you guys what I'm currently making everyday, to keep you guys updated on what you will see ingame, but also to get helpful feedback!
You are free to criticize/comment anything, and even ask me questions!

Here we go for the first round of swords!

I know that some 45° need little fixes, but I got so much imagination at the moment that I prefer to get on newer concepts, and fix what needs to be fixed later on.
Note that I'm also trying various styles on all my graphics and try to choose what's best for X and Y thing.

These look very nice and I like them a lot. They look relatively similar, as if they belong to a certain tribe. (Just what I think xd) Anyway, good job on them, can't wait to see some more

Thanks, I spend about 3-4 hours a day working on all my graphics, and I try to shape and get a quick preview of a new sword everyday. Still got a bunch of them to finish!

I'll post some shields soon too =)

How long do you spend on a sword?

I do those relatively quick.

ON TOPIC:
Sword's one looks good although the handle's shading do not match the blades light source.

Sword two looks decent, but some edges on the sword looks jagged.

Sword 3 has a nice concept, handle is pretty cool but i think the blade's colours stands out too much. Handel ends off pretty abruptly too.

Sword 4 is pretty standard, nothing much to say. Its pretty nice on the eyes.

~15-20 minutes for each sword, then some 10 minutes to fix 45° and make it fit the template. Roughly 30 minutes per sword, yeah.

Yes. Like I said, I'm trying different styles to match swords and some of them do need to be fixed, I didn't really pay attention to the light source.

Yep, I will either remove those jagged edges or improve something else around it.

Well I've tried a different "gold" concept on that one, to match this chest:Attachment 51548.
I will probably review the handle a little bit (note that where the player uses his hands on the sword isn't much of a deal, as this part will pretty much be covered)

Yep, after trying various blade types, I wanted to do something quick, and this is the result. Clean with a cutting edge, that's it!

You should do a scimitar. Also will dual wielding be an option? I don't want to look like the town guard.

i think the highlight line down the middle is too white, by far.

Yes there will be dual wielding but not anytime soon, I'm looking to get a working combat system first, dual can come later.

it's not done yet, still need to do the diagonals.

But so far so good right? I've spent alot of time tinkering on this sword.
Perhaps too many colors, but can't be bothered to optimize.

nope, I based all my chests on the first one I made and went with multiple designs and concepts. If it looks like the one from secret of mana then I didn't know.

Thanks for the critics on the eyes, i didn't really personally mind them, but ill fix it.

Contrast has been an issue for me on this thing all along, if i added more contrast it became too gray for a white furball. I still need to find a good color scheme.
