Server Plan

Attention Era,

I realize that many of you expect a prompt server plan from any new management. I however was not prepared to take over management and therefore am required to write a plan without fully realized ideas. In regards to the immediate future:

As you may have noticed Geovanni Cassini with the help of Icarus and Exolia is in the process of balancing the guns on era to make PKing and raiding a little more enjoyable for new and old players alike.

Dargaro, Tim, and Rachel are in the process of updating gang bases so that they are a little more PK-friendly. Hopefully with better layouts raiding will be much more enjoyable, and frequent.

Vulcan and I are currently going through all of Era trying to weed out as much of the outdated and/or redundant NPC's as possible. These cause much of era's server lag.

We are working diligently to complete a new job on era. We hope to, by the end of next week release a new fishing job on era, one that we feel is both fun and challenging.

We are currently in the early development stages of a fun little thing to make PKing a little more interesting. At the moment we call this hardcore mode, after every 100 kills you may activate hardcore mode once. When in hardcore mode you will deal more damage yet also receive more damage and should you die your hardcore mode is lost. However for every kill you gain in hardcore mode you earn points towards perks, which may range from silly little player effects to permanent boosts of HP.

This concludes our plans for the immediate future, as for our long term goals.

Elk and the graphics team are working on a new tileset which we hope will be completed by early October. This new tileset will be selectable by you the players. If you like the new tileset you may use it, if you prefer the old then no problem its still there.

We realize that Era's overworld has not truly been updated in nearly 6 years now. As such we feel its time for it to receive an overhaul. Dargaro and his team of LAT's will be working with Angel to create a new overworld while still remaining true to the original spirit of era. In conjunction with the new tileset we hope to bring era out of the 20th century and into the 21st century.

We are in the process of planning out checks and balances to help keep era's economy stable no matter what may happen to it in the future. When planning is complete we shall begin to implement these systems in the background in such a way as to disrupt gameplay as little as possible.

Though generally people have mixed feelings about this we feel with the various unscrupulous activities that have occurred over the last several years era is in desperate need of a reset. I realize that many resets have been promised and even planned. But the issue has been technical difficulties preventing a reset taking place in the traditional way. As such we have been working hard to come up with an alternative means of resetting without damaging Era.

As some people seem to be confused about the current management system of era I would like to take this time to explain exactly what is going on. I am the Server Manager of era, this does not mean that I like previous managers am the all powerful dictator of era. No, though that option may be open to me I truly do not wish to take it. Instead I am supervising the administrative team, I am leaving the respective team leaders in charge of finding new members for their teams and deciding what their members will be doing. Icarus (xTcDiabloxTc) is the Server Admin, generally his job is to cover for me when I am gone, but he also has the duty of selecting the Player Relations team. Vulcan (Vulcan) and Dargaro (kuhujiowa) are the Development Administrators, they are in charge of selecting members of the development team as well as assigning said team tasks to complete. Last but not least Geovanni Cassini is in charge of all player-related service issues.

I now leave this open to suggestion. If you disagree with, propose a change to, propose an addition, or propose an alternative to any of the aforementioned plans please let me know in this thread. Should you leave a message it should be clear, precise, and as detailed as possible so as to avoid the issues of ambiguity. I do recommend for the sake of others that before posting you think about what you are going to say. A thread filled with drama and spam is easy to ignore thus rendering this proposed openness useless.

-kinetaro (Server Manager of Era)

Wonderful! Sounds good, hope it all works out. Just make sure the "hardcore mode" perk rewards aren't massively overpowered.

I hope Dargaro and Angel don't make this new overworld some big production, aka a big waste of time. All the current overworld needs is to be organized. We don't really need something completely new.

Planning checks and balances.
Specify.

Please put this in the news tab and update the stafflist, we're confused.

Exolia was mentioned in the Gun-Related portion of your thread, what Exactly will he/she be doing with that? "Help" is a general term, as to see Morgrim hardly needs that kind of manpower to handle the guns, so what will he/she be doing.
Same question for Icarus' involvement.

Last but not least, what will the reset bring?

You'll probably see a concept of the tileset, but never a finished product, js.

My involvement with Geo's job is more or less training him, as well as offering an outside opinion. We're mostly in agreement on things anyway, no need to worry.

Sounds great kin, i'm very, very happy you made Manager. Finally oldbies in place on Era making the changes we have waited to see for so long. Era's getting some of that TLC it's needed for a long time now :]

edit: Rotfl props to Frankie for that one.

Shouldn't the general public be charged with offering an outside opinion?

As the common-trend with Supervisor-Worker relationship, your "outside" opinions tend to be abit more than that.

They're not his boss. It'd be ideal if he did it of his own accord without your wand hovering over his head. Yay'n and Nay'n

This sounds like a decent plan. However, things are x100 times easier to say than do. Don't fall into the same trap as Jenn did.

Wanted to make a suggestion for the game.

I love mining, i think its a great way to kill time, make money and just zone out.

But What I hate, is my weight limit. I really don't like going to the gym to level up my strength because my weight can't keep up with my mining level.

So i was thinking that after you get a certain number of mining levels, that you are awarded with a miners bag that will hold ore for you. And as you go further on in mining levels, the capacity of the bag also increases.

Lets say at mining level 10, you get a bag that can hold 80 ore. Mining level 20, it increases to 160, and etc.

Think we need something for people who really like to just do the gathering jobs, and not have to be limited by their inventory weight.

Interesting plan, but doesn't sound like something I would like to play.
I'd prefer the game play to be more normalized but just faster paced than it is at the moment.
Things like Kill Streaks in CoD just turn me right off, I hate using them and having them used against me.

I'd just rather shoot people myself, instead of calling in a helicopter or attack dogs and letting them do it for me.

It'd be like, if after every 3 levels on Mario Bros. the next level automatically played itself. I wanna jump over bowser.

I realize it's not exactly the same because this is just a boost, and you're still going to be controlling your character. But it feels gimmicky and unlevels the playing field. And then of course you're going to have the pricks that think it's funny to save up their boost and using it during a spar or w/e.

The field is still even because you take and do more damage. But players will always find a way to make a cool thing turn out lame.
