As all of you are aware Rebirth has been in the works for many years now, under various different Managers. I regret to say that the project has pretty much come to a stand still, due to the lack of scripters. For a while I have been mauling ideas over in my head to get N-Pulse back on its feet if Rebirth was not a success or if we ran into a problem like this one.

Fortunately I have devised an idea that I think will satisfy everyone, including the anti-Rebirth people. I am purposing to get a full backup of N-Pulse from years ago, updating the levels, fixing things here and there on the levels and weapons. These levels will replace the ones that are currently on the server. With this would come back quests for hearts, swords, shields, weapons, etc... I know a couple of you are going to say that you have a copy, but the copies you have are not full backups that include GFX and NC backups, because there are some GFX and NC systems that have been removed that the backup will include.

After talking with a few of my staff members we have thought about creating a storyline to go along with the quests, which will help amerce the players more into the server, versus just running around to collect everything. On this note I have a copy of the old OW with the Kalton and Armodia kingdoms that has been tossed around to figure out a way to link them into the server and storyline once again.

This is being posted in order to get the opinion of the Graal community, because without the community no server can hope to stay afloat. Please only post serious thoughts, opinions, questions, etc… and not things like “lol fail” because they will be deleted immediately. If you are not going to contribute positively towards the discussion click away from this page now, because we do not have the time to deal with immaturity or trolls.

Sad to hear this, but will the new tileset be used on old levels? It looks rather nice.

Yes I was planning on using the Rebirth tileset for this because it would be a shame to let it go to waste. So it would be like an old N-Pulse with a new feel.

I am sad to see the Rebirth project being given up on and the work that has been done over the years being thrown away. I personally do not believe an Old N-Pulse would bring in many players, especially new ones. However, regardless of my opinion I wish you all luck and I hope N-Pulse is able to attract back players. My one question for you and the current N-Pulse staff team is how you plan to convert all of the scripts that would come with the backup to GS2 if you have a lack of scripters. It seems like this would take a great deal of time for just 1 or 2 scripters to accomplish.

Rebirth is not getting given up on and thrown away. It is merely being put on hold until such a time comes that we have the staff to get it accomplished. As for the converting most of it can be grabbed from current scripts we have in the levels, really the only things that will need to be fully redone are the scripts for quests.

I predicted that N-Pulse would never get Rebirth finished, I was 100% sure of it. However, I didn't think they would be able to recover in anyway possible. At least you guys are going to try and move forward with what you've got.

We weren't able to get the Alpha Test up and running in the time line we expected, so I was faced with 1 of 2 options. Either continue with mistakes from past Management and ignore the main server and keep trying to plug away on it, or to put the project on hold for the time being and put what resources we have into reviving what we have. I believe we have chosen the best course of action.

N-Pulse was always behind it's time with poor management. N-Pulse used to have a frequent playercount of 60 players, below UN, but still good enough to enjoy the server. However, as time went on, the server didn't make any new updates or create any new events so players started to move to UN. Therefore, i'm wondering what you're going to do to start getting players back since quests won't achieve anything.

Quests are only good for a quick 10 minute thing, and then you're done and you never have to do it again since their is no point.

But my main question, the same as jerrets, is "What will you offer that UN isn't already?"

PS: I'm not faulting you for getting rid of Rebirth since I honestly never saw it as something that could be completed in the first place.

What is there on the server now besides events that brings people on? I was handed a wasteland and am doing what I can to get in going again. I have gotten lots of requests to get my hands on these backups, but at the time Rebirth was looking promising with the deadline that me and Abjorn set.

You will actually be surprised how many players go onto servers JUST to do quests. And if you think quests only take 10 minutes obviously it has been awhile since you have done an N-Pulse quest.

Figured that was implied with the original post about bringing back old N-Pulse. Once the 1st release is done there will be updates done on a regular basis, this would include events as well as quests, items, etc... I am not willing to make the mistakes of past management that got N-Pulse into the state it's in. And with my answer earlier, I have gotten many requests to do this, but wanted to hold off because of the promise that was shown in getting Rebirth off the ground in a timely fashion.

Rebirth hasn't been gotten rid of, simply put onto the back burner because it is not realistic at this point in time to get completed.

You're still not answering the question, just acting like a politician. N-Pulse should not be on the server list and should be removed until it is actually playable. If it can't get up to that standard it shouldn't return, simple as that. Currently you can't even walk around the main map without it breaking, and players should not be exposed that. Weak.

I used to play N-Pulse regularly, and then it became the greatest staff hangout to grace Graal.

My favorite version of N-Pulse was one where onlinestartlocal had a really large black board of heads, supposedly of the people who played it and were "famous" or something. Then one day I log in to see that it was replaced by some weird 3-level hangout with a pokey stick, and then a ****ty version of N-Pulse came out.

what did you expect? we've been told for "years" that n-pulse rebirth was going to come out, about how awesome it would be, about how different it would be. now you're reverting back to what UN does, and the legitimate question is, why anyone should stop playing UN to start playing on n-pulse when all you've stated was having quests and events? what's next, sparring and PKing?

that's UN in a nutshell, and no one is going to play n-pulse, especially with it's tight-nit conclave of staff who are "famous n-pulsians" even when most of you guys came from babylon

Actually there are a lot of players on UN that used to play N-Pulse and have told me if I ever revert back to an old backup of N-Pulse that they would be back in a heartbeat. All I'm offering is bringing back the old N-Pulse that the Graal community used to know and love, versus the N-Pulse that people know now.

Which post do you refer to? If you're going to say the one fowl said about what will un offer I believe he answered the way he see fit, Why would you bother badger him on it if he gave you his answer already. The question was not answered. What will N-Pulse offer that Unholy Nation won't? All I've seen as a response is the assurance that players will come back to play because it will be like the original N-Pulse.

EDIT: Sorry, he also said there would be events and quests. I think UN also has those.

Okay, I think I'll give my try at the question though it probably isn't concrete.

1. A preference of the same but with a different try at it (In other words more than one choice for people to play incase they do not like UN or simply want a change of pace but with the same idea, Kind of like "Do I want vanilla ice cream or vanilla chocolate swirl?").

2. Quests to play that actually serve a purpose more than just hearts. as thor said to not only give a sense of direction towards the server as a game but also more to do than just idle around level2 all day.

3. A storyline which players can follow along and enjoy themselves along with stated above quests.

I mean this is just things off the top of my head. Asking what we can offer that UN hasn't already seems a bit quick to ask when we ourselves are still working on everything... Wait until we can get it out before asking that kind of question. This thread is afterall to inform you of our incoming change and chance to actually contribute to help make N-Pulse a more desirable place to play and not necessarily to be a joke thread and get full of spam and posts that don't necessarily adhere to what we are asking of you people. If you have a problem with how N-Pulse is going than please keep it to yourself unless It is also a way to contribute towards making N-Pulse a better server without sarcastic influence.
