PK Zone Adjustments

On the overworld, there are now some additional restrictions on how no-PK zones work to discourage running.

When you enter the 'unstick me' area, if you have shot anybody in the past 10 seconds, a timer will appear at the bottom of your screen. This timer will count down from 5. During this time, it's still a PK zone for you (you can shoot anyone else in a PK zone, anyone in a PK zone can shoot you). If you move, the timer doesn't count down. If you haven't shot anybody in the past 10 seconds when you enter unstick, it will act as normal (instant no-PK zone).

For "convenience", we've also added a "!" symbol at the bottom-left of the screen. This symbol will appear if you've shot anybody in the past 10 seconds. This lets you know whether you can enter a no-PK zone on the overworld or not.

Wait so you can shoot other people when you are in PK mode even if it's a no-PK zone?

Only if the person you're shooting is also in PK mode (or in a PK zone).

If I'm not in pk-mode and someone in pk-mode walks into a no-pk zone would we be able to hit eachother?

Nope, both players would have to be in PK mode (or in a PK zone).

I noticed that it works in the hospital.. When you respawn in the hospital after getting shot, you still have it. It works anywhere from what I understand.

Working on making it work everywhere except events and the hospital.

Basically, if you don't want to fight, then don't engage the enemy. Once you engage, you cannot run from a pk zone to a no-pk zone without having to stand still for 5 seconds.

If you are picking flowers, digging, etc and run inside, it will automatically be no pk as long as you didn't attack anyone.

It SHOULD work everywhere(except events of course :P), but the timer should be reduced to 0 after death respawn... or else people will just use the hospital to run then.

Well, yeah. If you run to the hospital, you can still get pked...you're only safe when warping there after dying.

It doesn't seem to be working as intended. The "!" icon in the bottom right disappears after 10 seconds - even with movement - on PK zones. It's really easy to just dance around for 10 seconds then hop inside.

I mean, that's what you described it's function as, but it doesn't really stop running.

I think you have to be still for 5 seconds though to let it count down.

Yeah but if you run for 10 seconds while staying outside, it still goes away.

I can just run away for 10 seconds in a diagional and then hop inside and I'm all fine. No waiting 5 seconds while standing still or anything.

The movement timer is still being worked on I assume, which is why you can still run around and the timer will go down. Or they can make it so the more you move, it adds to your timer until you let all of it cool down.

We can maybe increase the time of the 10-seconds-since-hitting-someone rule, but either way, there's no real way to completely eliminate running.

You should make it so their speed goes down

Less of a running problem.

How about moving in diagonals doesn't double your speed, as it usually does, if you've been shot in the past 5 seconds?

see when you respawn @ the hospital you still get the five seconds thing, right now there are people getting you once you respawn at the hospital

I thought it would only occur when you enter a predesignated no-pk zone(AKA you shoot someone and enter a house which is no-pk, you'd have to wait 10 seconds before the no-pk actually effects you), and that the overworld was still open-pk. However, from what I can tell it means if you wait long enough you can not be bothered by anyone?

Perhaps you should have the time you wait proportional to how much you kill. That way people who are always PKing will take longer to get no-pk(thus making it harder for them to wait, gain no-pk, then go get cheap first hits), while newbies and people who aren't interested will gain the benefit faster. Or just go with my initial idea in the first paragraph.

No it doesn't, because then people will just abuse that. The timer just has to be reset on death, so you're not respawning in pk-mode.

The way I'd like it to work is that if you engage someone in a PK zone, you will remain in a 'pk status' until you sit still in a no-pk OR pk zone for 5-10 seconds.

How about you make it if you press esc or exit the game you get automatically killed if you've been hit in 50 seconds?

They'll be in escape mode though. Also, how did this topic turn into escape problems. It's about the new PKing system that was added to prevent players from running.

Made a couple more adjustments:

If you shoot someone and then enter a PK zone with 25 seconds (increased from 10) of shooting that person, you will have a countdown timer where you must stand still for 5 seconds until you are no-PK.
If you are shot (but don't shoot anyone), the same rule as above applies, except you only have to wait 5 seconds before entering the no-PK zone to avoid the timer (added).
A PK-zone indicator icon has been added for players who are currently in PK mode and not in a normal PK zone (added).

I have an idea, how about we not **** with the pking because running is fun.

I do it all the time. I love it when everyone gets so pissy, then they wanna spar. Like theyve got something to prove.

Then I go afk, and let them make masses about how stupid I am.
