Scripting?

I always here the word scripting, and people always saying i hav to script this so it will work, and i hav to script that.
What exactly is scripting?
What program do you need to do it?

And what kind of stuff does scripting allow me to do.

Without scripting there's nothing. THere's no program to do it, you just need to write out scripts. It allows you to do everything someone can do on Graal.

Scripting is writing special code for the game that tells the things in the game what to do, how to do it, when to do it, etc.

For scripts that go in levels you just need the Level Editor, for others you need an RC (RemoteControl) and to be staff on the server you want to edit scripts for. You also require the NC (NPC-Control) right to be able to edit the scripts if you're staff.

I wouldn't necessarily call that a good explanation of what scripting is. Even though i'm not that great of a scripter, ill try to explain to you what exactly scripting is in more meaningful terms.

Basically scripting, In other words GScript (Graal Script), is a custom game coding language formed from combining I believe, Java and C++? But anyways, its is basically a means of coordinating and telling your player(client), and the server what to do and how something should be performed. Its just a bunch of set codes that you combine in functions to create new things on a server (Example: The player being able to move on the server.. is a script, or perhaps a player being able to jump high in the air.. is a script). I would advise that if you want to learn to script that you read up on the Graal Script 2 Wiki (Not sure of the URL). But after that you can practice basic knowledge of scripting on a server using Graals Remote Control (Go under the weapons tab in GRC, and click "Add Weapon" and you should be able to progress from there).
