Smile New Graal version: 5.11

We have released a new Graal version:

- video capture with compression
- fixed bugs with animated graphics (e.g. yoyo-shield)
- new editor functions for text fields (auto-indenting, tab-spaces) like in the RemoteControl
- faster particle engine
- display of 3D objects on 2D servers
- auto-hiding of flash games when a PM or similar is shown above

Full feature list at http://wiki.graal.net/index.php/Crea...es/Client/5.11

Seems Houdini and I share the same problem...our GUIs are no longer first starting with the all-blue we want.

The only way to fix it is to start Graal (when its skin is on default), log into the serverlist, change the skin to toons, and then change it back to default so it goes all blue.

Quick video demonstration:

Haha I loved that discussion xD What kind of files for 3D are allowed may I ask for people wondering?

OMG FINALLY! This was very annoying, thanks!

At least the video recording is used for reporting bugs now
I already knew though. The toon style is used if the user has not selected any special style. It's not easy to detect if the user actually doesn't want any special style though (blue=no style).

have a script that says, in the login screen, something like
"this.reg = <command for styles>;
this.now = <command for styles (toon)>
if (<command for login> == <command for a true login>) {
this.now = this.reg;
}"
you know something like that. But make it detect "Default".

Sorry I used the program "Fraps". Graal wouldn't record it, I kept pressing Alt + 6 but didn't actually do anything.

How about having the video sizes we can select be proportional to the window size (i.e. 80% of window size, etc.)

set showimg.shape to a 3D shape file, currently supported are 3ds, dts and ft

Yes! Cheeers, Stefan!

[Edit]: and I now have a spinning 3d ship on Litheria

[Edit2]: When i first started using opengl full time, i had to download a motherload of files of login server to be able to see anything (guis, fonts etc). Doing switchtoopengl() skips this and I've had a few complaints about people being unable to see gui related stuff.

How does showimg.shape work?
PHP Code:
//#CLIENTSIDE
function onCreated() {

switchToOpenGL();

showimg.shape1"foo.3ds"this.xthis.y);

correct?

Uh no, findimg(200).shape(stuff);

The only place I've seen showimg as a variable is in the GuiShowImgCtrl since GuiShowImgCtrl.showimg is the actual TShowImg object.

I did this to create my rotating space ship (on Litheria)

PHP Code:
//#CLIENTSIDE
function onCreated()
{

showimg(201""this.xthis.y);

findimg(201).shape "test.3ds";

findimg(201).zoom 0.03;

setTimer(0.05);

this.chat "wee";
}

function
onTimeout()
{

this.yrot += 0.05;

this.zrot += 0.05;

findimg(201).eulerrotation = {0,this.yrot,this.zrot};

setTimer(0.05);

I can't say I like how you're mixing GS1 (showimg()) format with GS2 format
I would do this for the creation part:
PHP Code:
with (findimg(201)) {

thiso.x;

thiso.y;

shape "test.3ds";

zoom 0.03;

Your method may take less space but you really shouldn't mix it up like that. Your method also probably takes more processing power, not that its noticeable.

Ah okay, I guess it would be non-sensible to use showimg to show a shape. I thought he was saying showimg() was considered GS1.

Because it exists for compatibility.

PHP Code:
showimg(1"block.png"2232);
Is the same as:
PHP Code:
with (findimg(1)) {

image "block.png";

22;

32;

Because GS2 is object-based I think of the second as proper way and the first as just existing for compatibility. Also the second is more readable.

If it has a gs2 version of the command, it is no less efficient than with (findimg(201)) or findimg(201). In the end, it's also alot quicker script wise to create an image using showimg(). If I did showimg 201, blah.png, this.x, this.y then maybe your point would be valid. The fact that it was available in gs1 doesn't mean it was left for compatibility or any less efficient.

showimg(int, str, float, float) - returns object <- wowzor! returns an object!

The OpenGL mode uses true type fonts which need to be downloaded, it doesn't use the windows fonts. Currently the fonts are only uploaded to a few servers, need to make it downloadable from all servers.

I've just noticed that you need to reconnect to the server after using the switchtoopengl() command. On Litheria, I set it up so you have to say /opengl to switch. When you do however, you have to reconnect before you can see the model. I made the command because of the missing files and increased laggyness some people seem to expierence. Login to check it out . I added a few commands to my spinning ship

[Edit]: Maybe not as important as I thought. I added a serverwarp() right after it and it works now.

Remember, you have to add a new line to the folder configuration to use 3ds files. Also, use a higher index...perhaps 201.

Stefan! Which method is more efficient and proper in GS2? "showimg()" or "with (findimg()) {}"?

No problem eh. That problem with going back to default is weird though. I don't have that...
Try to check your game_config.txt in your Graal folder and look for the "defaultguistyle" line. Thats the line which defines the gui style that is used. Says default2.wba for me, even after Graal restart, maybe you can try to change it there ;P

That's just about convention, really. showimg() is just a shortcut so you don't have to enter a bunch of variable assignments.

So does this mean you're going to allow .3ds as attachable files?

It would be nice to see a player-made video of the 3D stuff.

showimg() is probably a lot more clearer in scripts, since it is maintaining a certain amount of semantic similarity with old GScript.

As much as anything it seems odd to do with (findimg()) on an object that does not exist yet; you do not instantiate a new player when you do findPlayerByCommunityName() or a new NPC when you do findNPC() and I do not see why images should be any different.
