Zodiac Questions

I have so many questions and no one seems to ever know the answer! So I will ask on here.

1.) Are there any Zodiac websites or message boards?
2.) I keep hearing that a new version of Zodiac is being developed.. any information on that?

In-game questions:

1.) What determines your element? I am a Fae Priest and I'm a fire element..
2.) Does whichever element you have determine which pet you get as a Summoner? Or can a Water Element walk around with a fire pet?

I want the light or water element and the water pet. Do I get to choose or is it just random?

Zodiac does have forums website, but I have no clue what it is.
And yes, it's either an overhaul of the current Zodiac or a new version of Zodiac all together that's being worked on.

As for the rest, I never played Zodiac so I wouldn't know.

Until you get cmp, you can't control your element. Once you do get cmp, you can choose an embrace which effectively changes your element. I believe your initial element is randomized between earth, fire, wind and water. Light/dark based elements are through cmps only.

The official forums were removed recently by the webhost. There are a few unofficial forums but they are run by fools. As for updates, you'll have to ask Ziro.

Pets are based on your element. CMPs are 'Class Mastery Points' and you'll start getting them once you reach the level cap (60). Once you get 15 CMPs, you can get an element embrace which effectively changes your element and by extension your pet.

Summoners are the joke class of Zodiac so You shouldn't be one. I made a few skills for them but they never released (no gani's plus I quit) so it's quite possible summoners will remain unfinished for a while until Ziro gets around to it.

So lame! I got a fire pet on my last account too. And I just want to have a Priest/Mage character so I'll only have to put like, 2 points in summoner to get the two skills you can get with it.

Be an elf mage with points in scout. That way you'll be able to run fast. Perhaps 10 points in thief to gain stealth. Being a summoner is truly a waste.

Added a couple of skills to Summoners:

* Chain Lightning
* Crystal Rain
* Dispel
* Purge

Also made it possible for players to heal summons/pets.

^ The reason why I don't play Zodiac. All of those are from WoW, with the exception of Crystal Rain, which is probably just like that Ice Blizzard attack or w/e it's called. Lets get more creative eh?

Heh, didnt even think of that. Chain Lightning and Crystal Rain were two unreleased spells that Yen made, and the other two were made by Twinny.

But like, that would be like saying you cant name something "Cure" just because Final Fantasy is using it.

Well I think thats different. Healing spells only do one thing really, that being heal you. Offensive spells can do so many different things. Chain Lightning for example is something that seems to be taken straight out of the Warcraft series of games. Cure or Heal is something thats in almost every game so that players don't get frustrated fighting that one annoying boss.

Chain Lightning appears in Warcraft games, every damn Forgotten Realms game (Neverwinter Nights, Baldurs Gate, Icewind Dale etc.) and surely A LOT of other games. So?

I made dispell/purge and I have never played WoW before. Since you made this post, you must consider WoW to be completely original. Definitely can't have dungeons, combat, magic or quests since they were totally made by WoW. *COUGH*. You are now part of the group of players that piss me off constantly.

Sorry guys, you now have to make every word on Zodiac unique since they exist in the English language! We can't have orcs or elves since they were in WoW LOLOLOLZORS. Hmm...can't have humans since that is a take on real life....we shall call them Xelcons. Can't have swords since i'm sure they are in WoW....they shall be called Petroths. I agree with you twinny, I agree that the names are in the english vocabulary.. it's just that they have the same name and do the same stuff as in for example WoW..

for example what Talon meant was the for example Chain Lightning in Zodiac has the same effects in WoW, that's all.. I'm not blaming Zodiac or something but I think some of the spells/effects etc.. could be redone

So.. I pretty much agree with Talon, but in another view of what he meant; What the spells/skills do. They do the same things in both/several games, its just that..

If I got this wrong, then ignore me ;o

Wrong. The one on Zodiac has an AoE range, while the one on WoW is.. chainish.

I hate WoW, Twinny. I'm just pointing this out because a lot of people DO play WoW and are going to point out that many things on Zodiac are also in WoW. I'm not saying that WoW is the original creators of these spells and weapons either. All I ask is it would be nice to see some of your own original spells instead of ones that are already in other games. No need to be indecent and sarcastic. I'm just throwing down some ideas.

I really just don't understand why every great server gets so much **** about taking stuff from other games. Who cares? Look at the game the server is hosted on.. are you gonna tell me it didn't take anything from Zelda? Be proud that there is even a fun server on Graal and stop worrying about if it's original or not. I mean how can you really even be original with stuff like this? What hasn't already been one? "Toenail Blade"? Who's gonna do THAT?

Because Chain Lightning, Purge and Dispel are most certainly not classic RPG spells seen on almost any true fantasy rpg... Learn your damn D&D.

If you wanted truly unique names, you'd have to come up with some wierd variations. Chain Lightning could become 'Rifariath's (W)Rath'. Rifariath is now the god of lightning on Zodiac. Perhaps it could be called 'Jumping Lightning' or 'Lightning which passes on within proximity'.

Most things in games are called what they are called due to the fact it's the most appropriate name. Should fireballs be called, "Flaming Projectiles" or "Flying Ball of Incredibly Hot Materials"? Dispell does exactly what it says. What other decent words are there? Purge is a common english word. What could we call it? 'Soul Vacuum'?

I see no point. There is nothing wrong with having a spell named chain lightning. Everyone knows that if they want a chain lighting spell, they will know exactly what it will do. If I see a spell called 'Rifariath's Wrath' I won't know what in the hell it is and won't even connect it to "Chain Lightning". This goes for all spells, spell names aren't copywrite nor can they be stolen unless it is something like "Bigby's Crushing Hand" or "Melf's Acid Arrow". (Let's see how many people aren't noobs and actually know what those two spells are)
